Job Overview:
The Generator Installer Helper will assist the installation team in setting up Generac whole-home generators and related equipment, such as Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) and Smart Management Modules (SMM). This is an entry-level role designed for individuals with basic mechanical skills who are eager to develop their knowledge of generator systems. The Helper will provide support in various tasks related to installation, site preparation, equipment handling, and maintenance of safety protocols.
The Generator Installer Helper will work closely with the Lead Generator Installer to ensure smooth, timely, and efficient installation of generator systems for residential and light commercial customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation Support:
Assist in the installation of Generac whole-home generators and associated systems, including ATS and SMMs.
Help in preparing the job site, ensuring all equipment and tools are properly organized and ready for use.
Handle generators and parts during transportation and installation, ensuring proper alignment and secure placement.
Basic Mechanical Assistance:
Perform basic tasks such as tightening bolts, connecting components, and securing systems as directed by the Lead Installer.
Support in performing routine pre-installation inspections and post-installation checks to ensure system integrity.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow all company and OSHA safety standards on job sites, ensuring proper handling of equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all safety barriers and guidelines are observed during installation.
Equipment Handling:
Assist in moving, lifting, and positioning generators and parts using proper techniques or specialized equipment.
Help load and unload installation vehicles, ensuring equipment is handled safely and securely.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the installation team to ensure the timely and efficient completion of each installation.
Communicate effectively with team members, following the direction of the Lead Installer to ensure work is completed according to customer and company expectations.
Customer Interaction:
Interact professionally with customers on-site, providing polite responses to any questions and ensuring a positive customer experience.
Assist the Lead Installer in explaining basic operational features of the generator system to the customer, if needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Basic mechanical skills and experience using hand tools.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist in moving heavy equipment.
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
Preferred:
Previous experience in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC fields is a plus.
Familiarity with generators or automotive systems is beneficial.
Desire to pursue Generac Installer certification or similar technical training.
Hours of Availability:
Full-time (40 hours per week)
Availability to work Monday through Friday, with potential overtime or weekend hours depending on customer needs and job schedules.
Wage:
- Starting wage: $18 - $22 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
