Generator Supercenter of the Mainline Generator Installer / Electrician in King Of Prussia, Pennsylvania

Location: Generator Supercenter of the Mainline, King of Prussia, PA Department: Installation & Electrical Services Reports to: Lead Installer / Service Delivery Manager

Job Overview:

The Generator Installer / Electrician will be responsible for the installation, wiring, and electrical setup of Generac whole-home generators and related equipment, such as Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Smart Management Modules (SMM), and whole-home surge protectors. This role requires expertise in both generator installation and electrical systems, ensuring that generators are safely installed, wired, and tested for operation. The installer will also handle basic troubleshooting and ensure that installations comply with local electrical codes.

The Generator Installer / Electrician works directly with customers, ensuring a smooth and professional installation experience, while adhering to all safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Generator Installation:

    • Lead the installation of Generac whole-home generators, ATS, and other related systems.

    • Prepare installation sites by setting up the foundation and positioning the generator unit safely.

    • Complete all required wiring and grounding of the generator system.

    • Ensure that installations are compliant with local electrical codes and safety regulations.  

  2. Electrical Setup & ATS Wiring:

    • Perform all necessary electrical connections and wiring for the generator and ATS.

    • Install and wire Smart Management Modules (SMM) and surge protection devices.

    • Ensure safe and compliant electrical installations, following national and local electrical standards.

    • Complete final checks to verify generator operation, including proper transfer between grid and generator power.  

  3. Basic Troubleshooting:

    • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues during installation.

    • Repair or replace faulty wiring and connections as needed to ensure the system functions properly.

    • Perform post-installation tests and inspections to ensure the system operates correctly.  

  4. Safety & Compliance:

    • Follow all OSHA and company safety standards during installation and electrical work.

    • Ensure all work is in accordance with local, state, and national electrical codes.

    • Use proper protective gear and safety equipment during installation and handling of electrical systems.  

  5. Customer Interaction:

    • Provide clear communication to customers throughout the installation process.

    • Explain basic operational features of the generator system to the customer and answer any questions regarding usage or maintenance.

    • Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring a positive experience during the installation.  

  6. Collaboration & Reporting:

    • Collaborate with the service and sales teams to ensure all customer needs are met during the installation.

    • Provide detailed feedback to the Service Delivery Manager on job status, electrical issues encountered, and any necessary follow-up work.

    • Keep accurate records of work performed, including electrical diagrams and installation documentation.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an electrician, with a focus on residential wiring and electrical installations.

  • Experience in generator installation or similar systems.

  • Strong knowledge of national and local electrical codes.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and blueprints.

  • Valid electrician license (if required by the state).

  • Valid driver's license and ability to reliably commute or relocate to King of Prussia, PA.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor environments.

Preferred:

  • Generac Installe Certification or willingness to obtain certification within the first 90 days.

  • Experience with Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) and Smart Management Modules (SMM).

  • Familiarity with surge protection devices and basic troubleshooting of electrical systems.

  • Knowledge of liquid-cooled and air-cooled generator systems.

Hours of Availability:

  • Full-time (40 hours per week)

  • Availability to work Monday through Friday, with potential for overtime or weekend hours depending on installation schedules.

Wage:

  • Competitive wage: $30 - $40 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
