rrPosition Summary:
r Located in Kimberly, Idaho, the University of Idaho Soil and Water Systems department is seeking a tenure track assistant professor to support the states agriculture sector through the development of efficient and data-driven irrigation systems. The successful candidate is expected to establish a dynamic extension program that delivers actionable, research-based education and information to growers, fieldmen, students, and irrigation system designers. This includes guidance on the installation and best management practices of irrigation systems aimed at improving water-use efficiency and protecting surface and groundwater quality. Additionally, the candidate will lead or co-innovate in the creation of decision support tools, cropping and irrigation systems, and the automation and adoption of precision irrigation approaches to enhance agronomic resource efficiency under limited water supplies. The successful candidate will also play an active role in research at the Center for Agriculture, Food and Environment (CAFE), located in Rupert, ID. Responsibilities include active participation in undergraduate and graduate student recruitment, serving as a major professor and on graduate committees, and training student interns and researchers. The faculty member will further engage with students by offering guest lectures as needed and organizing field trips and tours.
rrMinimum Qualifications:

- PhD in Agricultural Engineering, Soil and Water Science, or related field.
- Experience with written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with the principles of irrigation system design.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams that include researchers, extension personnel and growers.
- Experience with competitive grants, commensurate with career level.

- Record of research activities in data-driven field-scale irrigation/water management commensurate with career level.
- Experience in student mentoring and teaching commensurate with career level.
- Record of publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts commensurate with career level.
- Demonstrated experience in extension programing.
- Record of competitive grant success commensurate with career level.
