Diabetes Care Kilkenny

Our new manufacturing facility in Kilkenny, opening in 2024, reflects the growing demand for Abbott's global Diabetes Care products. The facility will be a centre for world-class engineering, quality, medical device manufacturing, and other science-based professionals to produce life-changing technologies, including the FreeStyle Libre 3, a system that automatically delivers real-time, up-to-the-minute glucose readings, with the smallest and thinnest wearable glucose sensor that provides unsurpassed 14-day accuracy and optional glucose alarms directly to smartphones. This enables people with diabetes to live the best and fullest lives they can.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The IT Specialist for the site you will have primary responsibility for the IT Support effort of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) - POMSnet & all auxiliary systems. Play a key role in the managing the sites overall IT business objectives. The role will Interface with all areas of the business & participate in all aspects of the manufacturing through implementation & day to day support.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to investigate/ troubleshoot MES and control systems to support optimization of system operations.

  • Ability to assist with new machine integrations, configurations & peripheral devices setups.

  • Monitors IT processes to ensure compliance with corporate, divisional and local policies and procedures.

  • Ability to work successfully to manage a team supporting manufacturing applications & day to day incident management.

  • Support IT maintenance schedules

  • Support the site, critical manufacturing systems, Interface with the business, assist with change control documentation and participate in testing schedules, delivery and testing coordination.

  • Supports system software upgrades including planning and scheduling & testing with operations.

  • Ensures policies and standards adherence is consistent with Corporate/ Division standards.

  • Ensures that IT applications meet the needs of the organization.

  • Able to execute IT projects working with cross functional teams.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and all areas of the Business.

  • Supports and enforces audit compliant policies and standards.

  • Provide IT and Business Process technical expertise to support Manufacturing Operations.

  • Communicate with project teams for regular updates, reports, and project escalations.

  • Assist in defining standards, guidelines, best practices, metrics KPIs

  • Ensures Local IT has business continuity/disaster recovery plans and participates in testing of plans, as necessary and monitors results of business continuity testing.

  • Act as the primary liaison between the IT and business areas, supporting applications, in areas such as Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Labelling, and general manufacturing control systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computing or equivalent in Manufacturing or Engineering discipline

  • Exposure to supporting large scale Oracle upgrade implementation, preferable.

  • Experience with ERP systems POMSnet & integrations with applications such as SAP, OSI-PI, Kepware advantageous

  • Experience in Oracle Databases, SQL scripting, Label printers, Scanners Configurations.

  • Experience with Software Lifecycle Validations in a regulated industry is desirable.

  • Successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work in a fast paced, team environment with strong attention to detail and quality results.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, written & verbal communication skills are essential.

  • 5 years plus experience working in IT / MES environment preferably with direct manufacturing exposure

  • Experience working with operating procedures, policies and processes in a GMP environment.
