Kelly Services Maintenance Technician in Kewanee, Illinois

Kelly Services is seeking Maintenance Technicians to work with Great Dane Trailers in Kewanee, IL. All openings are temp-to-hire and will convert to permanent employment after a 60 day probationary period.

Pay Rate: $15.80/hour ($16.80/ hour after 60 days)

Shift: 3rd Shift

10:00pm - 6:30am Sunday

Job Description:

This positions responsibility will include, but are limited to: electrical/mechanical repairs on facilities related equipment, performing electrical/mechanical preventative maintenance and inspections of cranes and hoists, performs repairs on facilities related equipment such as cranes, conveyors, hoists, jibs and other facility equipment

Job Duties:

  • Troubleshoots and repairs conveyor systems, overhead cranes, dock locks and levelers, pumps, piping, seals and valves, and material handling equipment.

  • Performs industrial and commercial lighting system repairs.

  • Performs office furniture, window, door and hardware repairs. Repairs floor and wall coverings.

  • Maintains and repairs facility structures, walk ways, and road ways.

  • Safely operates fork lift equipment, hoists and cranes.

  • Perform basic-intermediate electrical troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.

  • Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tag out procedures and wearing PPE as required.

  • Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or demonstrated equivalent.

  • 2 years’ experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial manufacturing facility or similar environment.

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical/mechanical issues on cranes, jibs and hoists.

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing conveyor systems

  • Associates Degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Mechanical, Industrial Electrical, HVAC or related program.

  • Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery and equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, supply and exhaust fans, power transmission components, cranes and hoists, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, overhead doors and service doors, etc.

  • Experience troubleshooting, repairing and working safely with 480v 3 phase electrical components.

  • Basic understanding of PLC’s and low voltage controls.

  • Experience with maintaining basic plumbing needs.

  • Experience safely operating forklifts and/or aerial lifts

  • Have the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Have the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.

  • Have the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.

  • Have the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.

  • Have the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.

  • Have the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.

  • Have the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant for shift.

  • Must wear steel-toed safety shoes, safety glasses and gloves

Work Environment:

  • Some position may involve occasional lifting up to 35 lbs. There’s a lot of bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, up and down ladders, crawling in and out of trailers.

  • There is a wide variety of duties as a general labor. You could be assigned different jobs and rotate based on production needs.

  • The facility is not temperature controlled, it is hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
