This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Project Manager for our Kennesaw , GA office. Candidate will be involved in projects with our Civil Engineering Team as part of the Earth & Environment Group as well as Federal projects with our Property and Buildings Team with multidiscipline projects. This is a hybrid workplace position with both in office and remote work opportunities. Primary responsibility will be to provide oversight and project management coordination for site development and construction projects in the federal, public and private sectors.
The ideal candidate will identify opportunities with local southeast clients and provide project leadership on civil engineering and multi-discipline engineering projects ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing, and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring external events, ensuring satisfactory performance, and supervising subcontractors and employees. Candidate should expect to travel from the office to various sites across the southeast states on a regular basis for project related travel. Candidate will need excellent communication and listening skills to help support coordination internally as well as externally with clients, contractors, and subcontractors. Candidate will ensure that their responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, accuracy, and functionality.
Your Impact
Lead site civil/construction project business development efforts and proposal presentation activities for local agencies and existing clientele.
Attract new clients, ensure customer satisfaction and build strong market relationships.
Support existing client relationships and continue to help grow these relationships.
Manage projects and maintain schedule, budget, and profitability of assigned projects, overseeing preparation of projects for preliminary engineering and environmental, plans, specifications, and estimates, and design support during construction.
Prepare, manage and review project deliverables including planning, design and construction documents, project reports, stormwater studies, cost estimates, scopes of work, and proposals, ensuring quality requirements, professional standards, client requirements and corporate objectives are met.
Provide coordination with other design disciplines and remote office locations, including environmental, site survey, SUE, natural resources, geotechnical, floodplain, and water resources.
Provide leadership, direction and performance guidance to ensure all staff are well supported and provided the appropriate opportunities for growth and professional development.
Demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment, and successfully managing multiple projects and task assignments, relying upon demonstrated experience in design quality control programs.
Provide mentorship to early-career and mid-career staff.
Remain current in latest civil engineering techniques and practices.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or closely related discipline
7 -10 years of relevant post education experience in Civil Engineering and/or construction management / Project Management.
Proficient in scheduling software such as Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6
Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, project managers, business leaders, sub-consultants, and technical staff.
Demonstrated excellence in providing creative solutions and high-quality technical performance and oversight through innovative thinking and application of tools and/or processes.
Demonstrated experience of leadership, personal accountability, persistence, and goal oriented.
Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, regulators, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Advanced proficiency with discipline specific design software and tools (i.e. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD, Hydraulic Toolbox, MicroStation, etc.).
Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.
Business development or pursuit experience.
Proven success in leading staff and delivering various types of infrastructure multi-discipline projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed Professional Engineer in Georgia or ability to obtain within one-year.
Additional project management related certifications desired such as PMP.
A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
Experience and previous relationship with local government desired.
Demonstrated success at securing business with local agency and other municipal clients.
Knowledge and experience with various permitting applications including: GSWCC Erosion & Sediment Control, City/County permitting (Zoning/E&SC/Stormwater/Land Disturbance).
