Amentum Manager - Configuration and Records Management in Kennedy Space Center, Florida

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Configuration Management Manager to join our dynamic team. The Configuration Management Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Configuration Management (CM), ensuring compliance with industry standards and NASA regulations.
Responsibilities
Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
• Execute and maintain the CM Plan, Records Management Plans, and processes in accordance with industry best practices and NASA Requirements and company policies.
• Lead and support a team of CM specialists, providing guidance and direction to ensure the successful execution of all CM activities.
• Ensure CM disciplines and requirements are accomplished according to the Program/Project Systems throughout the product life cycle.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of computer applications that support CM processes and perform CM accounting, including Data Management/Records Management, such as: Configuration Accounting & Verification (CAV), Configuration Management Support Tool (CMST), Kennedy Design Data Management System (KDDMS), Maximo Configuration Management Data System (MaxCMDS), and Records Tracking System (RTS).
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance teams to define and maintain product configurations, including identification, control, and verification of configuration items through WAD review and closure, Physical Configuration Audits, and engineering documentation through release.
• Support audits and assessments to verify COMET's compliance with the contract CM requirements and the overall effectiveness of the CM system. Address any discrepancies or inconsistencies through to closure.
• Understand and manage the design development and design modification process, the release of engineering/technical documentation and subsequent revisions process, as they relate to CM.
• Competent of Technical Data Center (TDC) operations and Records management.
• Assess monthly metrics and address negative trends.
• Work Department Budget and Planning.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for CM related inquiries and issues, providing timely resolution and escalation as needed.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and developments in CM practices, incorporating advancements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the organization.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
The candidate must possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a related management area, and at least ten (10) years of configuration management experience in the aerospace or defense industry. Three (3) years of successfully managing people is required. Advance degree is preferred.
Job Requirements
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
• Strong understanding of configuration management principles, processes, and tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, ISO 10007) is highly desirable.
• Certification in configuration management is a plus.
• If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.
Physical Requirements
• May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
• Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.
• Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
• Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
• Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
Work Environment
• May be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
• Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.
• Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility.
• Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
• All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.
Equipment and Machines
• Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.
• Variety of equipment used in testing.
Attendance
• Full-time work hours.
• Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task.
• Must be dependable and punctual.
• Shift work may be required.
Other Essential Functions
• Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
• Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
• Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
• Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
• Government security clearance may be required in the future.
• Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
