Summary:
The Vice President, Mission Integration provides executive leadership by promoting and integrating the mission, vision and values of Catholic Health (CH) in all aspects of the local ministry. This executive shapes and supports the strategic goals of the ministry, integrates elements of Catholic identity into organizational operations. These elements include respect for human dignity, holistic care, and care of the poor and vulnerable. This executive integrates the heritage of the Religious Sponsors, including concern for the common good and promotion of justice and provides oversight and direction for caring for those who are poor, community benefit, advocacy, community outreach, pastoral/spiritual care, ministry formation, spirit at work, and ethics. This executive identifies and serves as a resource for theological, ethical, and moral issues of day-to-day operations and provides education to raise values-based questions and concerns pertinent to organizational decision-making and strategic direction setting. This executive champions the Sponsor Expectations, ensures mission integrity in all organizational processes which include strategic planning, organizational culture, leadership and policy development. This executive collaborates, communicates and coordinates mission initiatives between CH and the local ministry site including accountable use of resources and the achievement of agreed upon outcomes and goals. As a member of the ministry site executive management team, the executive fulfills agreed upon accountabilities and serves on select committees. Depending on individual expertise, the vice-president serves as a resource to other shared ministries. If appropriate, the executive assumes responsibility for additional organizational departments and functions. This executive reports directly to the EVP & Chief Mission Officer with matrix reporting relationship with the CEOs of respective ministries. Actively participates on the local executive management team and in interaction with staff at all levels.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
- Master's degree in Theology, Divinity or an equivalent degree required
EXPERIENCE
Must be an active Catholic with executive leadership experience marked by a demonstrated grasp of both the complexities of health care as a business and the unique moral, ethical and social expectations placed on health care provider that claims Catholic identity
At least five (5) years of experience in one or more of the following are recommended: health care, education, management, Mission or Spiritual Care
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Well formed in the Catholic Tradition; knowledge of Catholic Theology, Catholic social teaching
Develop and implement Mission Integration strategies comprehend and translate theological, ecclesial, ethical and social justice positions consistent with the Catholic Church
Acquainted with the plurality of religions encountered within the ministry
Able to articulate the lived faith experience and the meaning spirituality brings to the person's life as well as encouraging and empowering individuals and organizations to do the same
Knowledge of the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services ethical decision-making models, and clinical and corporate ethical principles and practices
Ability to establish a credible leadership role alongside other colleagues on a senior leadership team with the ability to identify theological, ethical and moral issues embedded in the day-to-day operations
Translating these issues in a way that engages the energy, talent and imagination of the team to identify directions and solutions; ability to make a positive and lasting impact on the ministry
Collaborate and partner with other executives, management, physicians, staff and members from the local community
Has the management competencies needed to be recognized as productive contributors to the organization
Person of faith who models a collaborative style of servant leadership
Committed to the mission and values of Catholic Health
Capable of establishing mutually beneficial relationships with diverse groups of people; skilled in facilitation, mediation, conflict resolution or other similar processes.
Living a practical integrated spirituality
Communication skills which illustrate self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and empathy
