Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
The purpose of this position is:
Ensure that parcel (FEDEX, UPS), LTL and FTL shipments are processed per customer requirements. Interact with CSR’s, Planning and Corporate Transportation to ensure customer orders are processed per requirements. Ensure that materials in various stages of shipping and receiving are pulled and delivered to internal and/or external customers; domestic and/or international.
This position includes significant duties such as to:
Pick up and deliver materials to the production floor using forklift and/or pallet jack
Perform cycle counts and other audits as required
Determine method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures; prepare
materials for shipping by weighing, packaging and stamping; prepare necessary shipping
forms such as bills of lading
Ensure that transactions are properly recorded in required systems (SAP, FedEx, UPS, etc.)
Accurately stock, transact and distribute materials to production areas
Assist with on the job training to new employees and resolve problems utilizing knowledge
of shipping/receiving/stock operations
Contribute to the 5S departmental goals by maintaining the cleanliness of the production,
shipping and warehouse areas
Working Conditions:
Team environment with well lit, climate controlled areas
Bending, standing, or walking for approximately 6-8 hours per day; occasionally lifting up
to 50 pounds
Work with chemical substances, heat, dust, noise, fume odors, oil mist; none disagreeable
Will require use of PPE, such as ear protection, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, etc.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required.
1-3 years Warehouse and Shipping experience; 1-2 years forklift driver experience with fall protection and other material handling equipment.
Able to effectively communicate in English

The range for this position is $20.25 hourly rate - $23.12 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
