Queen's Health System Staff Registered Nurse - 2023 Top 20 Critical Access Hospital, 36 hours/week, shifts vary (MOLOKAI GENERAL HOSPITAL) in Kaunakakai, Hawaii

RESPONSIBILITIES

Molokai General Hospital, a Queen's Health System Company, is looking for a Registered Nurse interested in rural health care to work 36 hours per week on a rotating schedule. This position offers excellent benefits, exposure to acute care, obstetrics, and emergency nursing in a beautiful, well equipped hospital setting.

Previous experience preferred, but new graduates are welcome!

Molokai General Hospital is a 15-bed rural health care facility with a Critical Access Hospital designation. It provides the only emergency room for the residents and visitors on the island of Molokai. MGH became a part of The Queen’s Health Systems in 1987 and provides acute care, inpatient hospice, skilled nursing, and low-risk obstetrical services. It also offers primary care in a rural health clinic, chemotherapy, limited specialty procedures, diabetes management, family planning, physical therapy (including aquatic therapy), veteran’s services and chronic disease navigation services.

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible to the Director of Nursing and under the direction of the Charge Nurse. Follows patient care orders of the Physician on duty. The Acute/ED/OB Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for care given to patients at Molokai General Hospital (MGH).

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Essential: Seeing, hearing, speaking, standing, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, twisting body, finger dexterity, lifting weight up to 60 pounds, pushing/pulling weight up to 75 pounds, reaching above, at, and below shoulder level. Continuous: Seeing, hearing, speaking, standing, and walking. Operates cardiac monitor, Blood Pressure (BP) monitor, pulse oximeter, oxygen tanks, Hoyer lift, intravenous pumps/monitors, medical cart, crash cart, Isolettes, Bili-Lites, and scales.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Both inside and outside environmental conditions; hazardous physical conditions; and atmospheric conditions which affect the respiratory system or skin.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Graduate of an accredited two (2) or four (4) year School of Nursing.

• Hawaii State Licensure as a Registered Nurse.

• BLS/HCP level certification.

• ACLS certification.

• NRP certification, required within one (1) year of employment.

• PALS certification, required within one (1) year of employment.

• Completion of Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred.

B. EXPERIENCE:

• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.

• Knowledge of Acute/ED/OB nursing practices as well as new trends and techniques in nursing.

• Ability to provide quality nursing care in times of emergent situations.

• Ability to relate effectively to patients of all ages, their families, and staff.
