Job Description

The Project Engineering Manager oversees engineering activities of the project, considering the quality/Cost/ time delivery criteria.

He plans overall design activities, manages Project design budget, defines the design quality plan, implements design change process, supervises and coordinates all engineering tasks required to execute the project, whether in house or by suppliers/subcontractors, and ensures technical coordination of the Grid Solutions project. He warrants that optimized technical solutions (cost effective solution, ease of installation and operation of the systems) in line with Customer expectations are implemented by project engineering team and involved Partners, and that documentation is delivered as per project general time schedule.

Key missions of the Project Engineering Manager for engineering activities under his/her responsibility:

Project management

Scope of work & time schedule

  • Responsible for issuing consolidation of provisional drawing list of the project or of his/her work package, integrating submission dates

  • Manage global time schedule of concerned engineering activities, secure interfaces between engineering activities and other project functions activities and other stakeholders

  • He/she is responsible of relevant co-engineering sessions with other disciplines, main partners or key suppliers if & when appropriate and of work package design reviews

Resources

  • Lead & coordinate design teams

  • Manage design workload plan and request resource arbitration

Customer Management

  • Ensure compliance to Customer requirements

  • Represents customer interests in the design decisions

Design expediting

  • Prepare or review technical specifications and supplier’s documents to enable procurement of materials and plant detailed design

  • Check effectiveness of design against delivery of contract requirements within project budget and look for global cost optimization in all design phase and mainly during basic design

  • Get or give support to ensure compliance to technical "state of the art" and applicable standards & regulations

Process & Tools

  • Deploy Engineering tools associated to his/her work package (CAD, PDM/DMS,) as per strategy

  • Integrate EHS requirements based on project Strategy, and deploy HAZID (Hazard identification) sessions at different project phases

  • Implement Key Indicators on engineering process and provide support to elaborate project reporting

Quality

  • Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes defined at Unit, project level, and in Engineering instructions

  • Report or resolve any non-conformances and process in a timely manner

Health and Safety

  • Implement design freeze and EHS in design

  • Demonstrate EHS leadership and ensure Zero Deviation Plan is implemented within the team

  • Sets the example by demonstrating the proper acts and actively observes work conditions and behaviors, giving constructive feedback and celebrating EHS effective prevention.

Required Qualification:

  • Engineering degree level or equivalent education

  • Siginificant experience, of which 2 to 4 projects in a position of Project Engineering Manager, managing medium set projects, across several project contexts (technology, scope, contract environment) in EPC type environment in T&D, Power Gen or Oil&Gas industry

  • Experience in industry including HVDC or AC substation equipment and design

  • Successful experience in management of multi-disciplinary teams with multiple interfaces and with products coming from several countries

  • Fluent in Polish and English
