Job Description

Manages and maintains the facility’s building automation system(s) (BAS) ensuring optimal operating performance of all BAS controlled systems.Plans, programs, operates, installs and maintains all heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC), lighting and other miscellaneous system controls supported by the BAS.Ensures BAS system is properly operated and maintained to include monitoring, reporting, adjusting set points, calibrating controls and sensors and troubleshooting as required.BAS system monitors and controls various systems and equipment, to include boilers, pumps, air handlers, chillers, valves, lighting, water irrigation, medical gas, emergency generators and other related equipment. Supports and coordinates the maintenance and repair of controlled equipment by various shops and works closely with shop leads on various work requirements. Provides written and oral instructions. Work is performed with considerable technical independence in accordance with accepted trade practices and departmental policy.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.

  • Universal Refrigerant Certification.

  • Five years experience in the installation, operation and maintenance of building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC equipment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of OSHA, TJC, NEC, NFC and ASHRAE regulations and guidelines.

  • Leadership and organizational skills to include ability to plan, assign, and coordinate the work of engineers and to maintain cost and time records.

  • Ability to maintain and repair system controls using hand and power tools and read and comprehend technical manuals and schematic drawings.

  • Ability to climb ladders, push and pull up to 95 pounds and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to wear half mask respirator to comply with OSHA requirements.

  • Verbal communication skills required to explain procedures to other engineers during training.

  • If driving is a requirement for the employee, he/she must meet the requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy and must continue to meet these requirements as a condition of employment
