TITLE: Accounting Specialist

REPORTS T O: Controller

SALARY: Competitive salary commensurate with experience

POSITION/TYPE: Non-Exempt

REQUIREMENT:  1 to 3 years of relevant experience

Job Overview:

The Accounting Specialist will assist the accounting team by handling various clerical duties related to accounts payable, cases expenses and related charges associated with our clientele. The primary responsibility in this role will be accounts payable, but other duties may be assigned as needed.  This position will also serve as a backup to our accounting and settlement teams, assisting with various tasks as time and skills permit.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Post business transactions, process invoices and verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable and related case expense records

  • Provide other clerical support necessary to pay the obligations of the organization

  • Maintain complete and accurate records of vendors, outstanding payables and associated case expenses

  • Practice effective monitoring to ensure payments are made to approved vendors accurately and in a timely manner

  • Assist other accounting staff with other transactional duties as time permits

    Knowledge and Skills:

     

  • Self-starter – you take initiative and thrive in environments with minimal supervision

  • Communicating with individuals at all levels within the firm – i.e., Executives, Attorneys, Case Managers

  • Team oriented mindset

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel

  • Hands on experience with accounting software a plus

  • Exceptional prioritization for focusing on the most time sensitive duties
