Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking applications for a Transportation Infrastructure Major Project Engineer (Design Manager) in our British Columbia team. This individual will win, lead, manage and deliver major transportation infrastructure projects. You will lead and coordinate other discipline specific team members including Highways, Bridges, Project Services, Civil, Community Development, Construction Services, and Rail/Transit, Geotechnical, Drainage, Utilities, and others to deliver major complex transportation infrastructure.

Roles are available for senior team members, strong intermediate team members, as well as a potential Team Leadership opportunity for the right candidate.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Lead complex multi-discipline transportation infrastructure teams/projects which will include contribution from many discipline focused team members including engineering, planning, highways/roads, bridges, general civil, construction services, rail/transit, geotechnical, drainage, utilities and others through the entire project lifecycle including:

  • Business development, teaming and winning proposal submissions.

  • Management of multi-discipline design delivery.

  • Management through construction administration and post construction.

  • Liaise with clients, contactors, internal team members and other industry stakeholders for the purpose of winning and delivering successful projects.

  • Build on Stantec’s growing reputation and experience with major multi-discipline transportation infrastructure projects.

  • Provide internal project management and financial accountability for the projects you are delivering.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff members.

  • Attract and retain new team member to our growing team.

  • Provide support for major multi-discipline projects led by other internal team members.

  • Contribute to high level strategic business planning and account management.

  • Lead priority strategic business plan objectives, in addition to leading multi-disciplinary project.

  • Provide positive contribution to a team oriented and solution focused work culture.

Qualifications

Your Experience, Capabilities and Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum 8 years of transportation infrastructure industry experience.

  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in EGBC.

  • Equivalent alternative education and experience will also be considered.

  • Design Management experience for major transportation infrastructure projects.

  • Experience with planning, engineering design and construction implementation of transportation infrastructure.

Strong preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Experience and strong working relationships with the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure.

  • Work experience with other major transportation infrastructure owners in British Columbia (or other Canadian Provinces) would also be considered.

  • Proven experience leading multi-discipline transportation infrastructure teams/projects through the entire project lifecycle including:

  • Business development, teaming and winning proposal submissions.

  • Management of multi-discipline design delivery.

  • Management through construction administration and post construction.

  • Traditional highway/roadway/bridge experience is preferred with consideration also given for experience in airports, ports, rail, transit or other transportation infrastructure.

  • Experience with Alternative Procurement and Delivery projects.

  • Project Management experience, in addition to design management experience.

  • Proven ability and excellence in time management.

  • Proven ability to work with limited direct oversight while collaborating effectively with a large multi-discipline team.

Our team is proud to employ a highly flexible hybrid working environment and we have 9 offices across BC. Working from one of our lower mainland offices in Vancouver or Burnaby is most desirable, however office location is flexible and a top candidate could be associated with any of our 9 offices. Our senior team members are encouraged to be in the office at least part-time to ensure the staff they are working with get the benefit of in person mentorship, training and team building. The number of days per month in the office is flexible, with expectations to developed in collaboration with the successful candidate.

Typical office environment working with computers. Occasional travel is required such as attending meetings for projects and internal team leadership meetings. May occasionally visit study areas, construction sites and/or be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • Lower Mainland $123,800 / BC Other Areas $116,800 - Lower Mainland $185,700/ BC Other Areas $175,200 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
