Summary:
A Manager of New Product Development is responsible for overseeing the creation and launch of new products within an organization. This role involves managing the entire product development process from concept through production, ensuring products meet market demands and align with the company's strategic goals. The Manager of New Product Development will lead the Turbomachinery and Systems product development team in designing, developing, and bringing new products to market. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, engineering, design, and sales, to ensure new products align with the company’s objectives and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Strategy and Planning :
- Collaborate with marketing to develop and implement a strategic roadmap for new product development that aligns with the company’s vision and goals.
Product Development Management :
Lead cross-functional teams in the development of new products from ideation to launch, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Oversee the product design process, collaborating with engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to develop innovative and high-quality products.
Manage the product development lifecycle, including concept development, prototyping, testing, and production.
Cross-functional Collaboration :
Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing teams to ensure product quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
Coordinate with regulatory, legal, and compliance teams to ensure products meet all industry standards and regulations.
Leadership and Team Management :
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 8-12 designers and engineers to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Set clear objectives, performance goals, and development plans for team members.
Drive a customer-centric approach to product development, ensuring products meet or exceed customer expectations.
Required :
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related field
8 years Engineering experience.
20% Travel, Domestic and International.
Preferred Experience / Skills :
Experience leading teams in product development, product management, or a related role.
Proven track record of successfully launching new products and managing cross-functional teams.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-focused approach.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with product development projects, ensuring proactive risk management.
Proven ability to mentor and coach team members, fostering their professional development and building a high-performing team.
Knowledge of Agile or Lean product development methodologies.
