Position Overview:
The Manager, Regulatory and Compliance oversees the execution of creative assets in adherence to brand guidelines, ensuring regulatory and compliance requirements are met. You will partner with a team of designers and collaborate with a larger group consisting of Marketing Operations, Legal, Safety, and Compliance teams. The role involves working closely with brand marketing, communication design teams, and external agencies to create and maintain a centralized approach for packaging updates driven by regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
Execution: Deliver projects that align with brand visual identity and ensure regulatory compliance across global packaging updates. Risk Identification: Improve identification of risks and priorities during project scoping phases.
Compliance & Regulatory Management: Ensure packaging meets evolving federal and state regulatory guidelines, including updates mandated at the enterprise level. Implement streamlined processes for packaging updates to reduce rework, minimize retailer frustration, and avoid unexpected costs.
External Agency Collaboration: Manage relationships with external agencies to support project overflow and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality creative assets. Coordinate agency work to align with internal teams and regulatory requirements, ensuring seamless project execution.
Centralized Regulatory Request Management: Enhance communication and better management of cross-functional resources, leading to more efficient outcomes. Collaborate with the Manager, Design Operations to create a centralized submission and tracking system (via Workfront) for compliance and regulatory updates. This allows core design teams to work cohesively within a defined project scope, providing easy tracking and management of updates.
Collaboration & Art Direction: Lead Designers and work closely with cross-functional teams and external agencies to execute packaging updates that adhere to both brand and regulatory guidelines.
Improved Tracking and Process: Ensure better tracking and management of compliance-driven changes. Streamline communication and execution related to compliance-driven packaging updates. Ensure the project scope remains clean, costs for outsourced work are tracked and managed, and project status is reported efficiently for executive review. Reduced Redundancy & Confusion: Minimize confusion and redundancy in the project execution process.
Stakeholder Engagement: Improve executive-level visibility with enhanced reporting on compliance status. Present execution rationale to marketing teams and ensure high-quality recommendations are delivered. Engage with cross-functional partners, including legal and compliance teams, to meet regulatory standards while maintaining creative excellence.
Qualifications:
Education: University degree or college diploma in graphic design, art, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
7+ years of experience in creative/graphic design
Experience managing packaging updates in response to regulatory and compliance requirements is highly preferred.
Experience collaborating with external agencies to support project overflow and ensure cohesive execution.
Creative & Regulatory Leadership: Demonstrated experience delivering cohesive creative executions that comply with both brand and regulatory guidelines. Strong understanding of design architecture and the ability to oversee compliance-related adjustments.
Technical Expertise: Proficiency in design programs (Adobe Programs) for creative development and regulatory adjustments.
Communication & Problem-Solving: Strong communication skills with the ability to navigate complex regulatory requirements. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced environments.
