Southern Company Specialist Sr - Cyber Security Coordinator, Maintenance in Juliette, Georgia

Job Description

This position performs technical and analytical services essential to the control systems for the operation of Plant Scherer. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining plant integrity by performing NERC/CIP updates on control systems, will be Single Point Contact for the plant, communicate updates and information to plant personnel and to the OT Cyber Team, and to keep Plant Scherer in Compliance with all NERC/CIP and Southern Company (SCS) Standards of Excellence (SOE). The incumbent will also be expected to perform all work safely while in the plant performing daily activities.

Position will be filled depending on the level of experience.

Job Experience and Education:

  • Two-year technical degree from a certified technical institution or military equivalent required

  • General knowledge in Distributed Control Systems and PLCs is desired

  • Experienced in Foxboro Control Systems, GE Mark VIe Controls, Bently Nevada, Spectrum CEMS software, and MAXIMO ® software is a plus

  • Plant Operations experience is a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Detail Oriented.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation such as reports, network diagrams, etc.

  • Must have good problem-solving skills in troubleshooting/understanding Microsoft Office Computer Applications.

  • Understand the NERC CIP requirements for assets containing Low Impact BES Cyber Systems.

  • Detailed knowledge of plant control and data acquisition systems is desired.

  • Knowledge of data communication principles, network topology, and networking protocols is preferred.

  • Knowledge of OT cyber security tools is preferred.

  • Ability to classify priorities and escalate issues based on severity.

  • Ability to work with limited direction and contribute individually.

  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to create and maintain positive working relationships

  • Must be able to support a 24/7 work schedule, including weekend and holiday shift work when necessary

This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:

Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).

Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
