St. Bernard's Medical Center MANAGER-STERILE PROCESSING DEPARTMENT in JONESBORO, Arkansas

  • JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education

  • A high school diploma or the equivalent. CRCST certification is required. All new employees must obtain certification within 18 months of accepting employment. Initial expenses for certification will be the responsibility of the employee. The employee’s expenses will be reimbursed after successful completion of test with a service repayment of 12 months post completion of test.

  • Experience

  • Two years central sterile processing experience. Must have knowledge of all preparation and sterilization activities, including decontamination, inspection, preparation, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution. CRCST certification is required.

  • Physical

  • Normal hospital environment. Close eye work. Hearing within normal range. Exposure to steam, water, lint, odors, and warm temperatures. Distinguish smells. Distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. Operates ETO/steam sterilizers, sonic washer, washer-sterilizer, and jet gun in cart wash. Lifting, carrying up to 30lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 285 lbs. Continuous standing, walking. Frequent bending and stooping.

  • JOB SUMMARY

  • Responsible for direct supervision and management of SPD employees and the development of technicial policies, execution of technical procedures, providing assistance to the department director of the service, supervising all areas of sterlization, implementation of infection control measures, compliance with national and local safety standards, maintenance of administrative records, participation in education programs, and participation in personnel functions within the department. This position is required to utilize independent judgement. Routinely assigns and responsibly directs staff.
