St. Bernard's Medical Center EMERGENCY MEDICINE CLINICAL PHARMACIST - SIGN ON BONUS & RELOCATION BONUS OFFERED in JONESBORO, Arkansas

  • JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education

  • Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy with Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of Arkansas.

  • Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years pharmacist experience in direct patient care or completion of PGY1 residency program required.

  • Normal hospital environment. Close eye work. Hearing within normal range. Operates computer, typewriter, calculator. Finger dexterity. Eye-hand coordination. Frequent sitting, standing and walking. May lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Some exposure to chemical hazards when making chemotherapy.

  • JOB SUMMARY

  • Provides specialized pharmaceutical services to improve drug utilization and therapeutic outcomes including, but not limited to, advising prescribers on issues concerning drug therapy, the inherent toxicity of drugs and their side effects, as well as assisting in the prescription of appropriate doses. Works with physicians, care managers, and other clinical staff in direct patient care to ensure that medications prescribed for patients contribute to the best possible health outcomes. Pharmacist will review medication orders, engage in clinical consultation, and coordinate activities of pharmacy staff engaged in the preparation, labeling, and delivery of medications in accordance with the provider’s prescriptions, compounding and dispensing medications as required. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the preparation and dispensing of medications and the maintenance of required records. Supports clinical pharmacy leadership in the development and implementation of clinical policies, procedures, process guidelines, order sets and/or protocols to ensure the provision of safe, effective and economical pharmacotherapy for all patients. Participates in key patient care/clinical committees serving as a representative for both their area of practice as well as the Department of Pharmacy. Evaluates quality data including medication utilization and reports recommendations to Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee in order to aid formulary management decisions. Serves as a direct patient care provider but may also serve as educator, researcher, and clinical preceptor to pharmacy students and residents. Provides clinical education and training support for various professional services in advanced pharmacotherapy. Clinical Pharmacist must maintain competence in clinical problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making; communication and education; medical information evaluation and management; and a broad range of therapeutic knowledge domains. This position is required to utilize independent judgment.
