Position Summary:
The School of Nursing invites applications for the Faculty position for the Advanced Practice Nurse, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program. Participation in teaching, student advising and professional service is expected. The position is full-time (12 mo.), nontenure-track at the rank of assistant professor.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Actively participates in the development and evaluation of curriculum, course content, clinical experiences, and test construction
Is responsible for didactic courses and/or clinical group sizes appropriate to the area of clinical practice
Plans and supervises clinical seminars
Establishes effective coordinating relationships with co-workers and clinical agencies
Continues education for professional growth
Conducts continuing education offerings
Participates in academic advising and guidance of students
Maintains office hours
Participates in the faculty organization and appropriate program, college, and university activities
Serves on assigned and elected program, college, and university committees
Sponsors and promotes planned activities of students, programs, college, and university as requested
Contributes to the community through involvement in and/or consultation with health-related organizations, board memberships, or professional presentations to the public
Participates in planning for the continued growth and progress of the program through faculty and student recruitment and retention efforts
Holds membership and participates in organizations that advance the profession of nursing and advanced practice nursing
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Maintains skills and ability to function as faculty for clinical and didactic courses.
Knowledge of curriculum design, strategies to promote student learning, assessment and evaluation of learning, evidence-based education principles, advanced practice nursing skills, and a commitment to life-long learning.
Possesses interpersonal and communication skills necessary to teach as part of a faculty team.
General Days/Hours:
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Monday - Friday.
Flexible schedule for clinical practice
Additional hours as requested and/or needed

12-15 credit hour teaching workload

Minimum Qualifications:
An Earned Doctorate Degree in nursing required
Academic experience required
Three to five (3-5) years of verified practice as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner required
Holds unencumbered RN/APRN (or eligible) License in Arkansas
Current certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner by a national certifying body
