Air National Guard Units IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK SERVICES) in Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey
Summary This Title 5 National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK SERVICES), Position Description Number T5905900 within the 140th COS and is part of the NJ 108th WG, Air National Guard. The purpose of this position is to serve as a unit systems administrator to monitor the Local and Wide Area Network, including the planning, analysis, development, implementation, Quality Assurance(QA), maintenance testing, and/ management of networked systems and the unit's QA program. Responsibilities As a IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK SERVICES), GS-2210-11, you will: Analyze LAN utilization statistics through data collection and performance measures to ensure the smooth, reliable, and robust operation of LANs to include classified and unclassified networks. Conduct testing of network systems to ensure current network software products are compatible with system configurations and to ensure operability, efficiency, and compliance with existing standards. Implement network operating system and/or network application software, and maintain contact with software suppliers to ensure that current releases of software products are in use. Conduct problem analysis to identify trends, ineffective practices or procedures, and equipment shortcomings. Identifies and documents network requirements for specific needs of customers. Install, configure, and troubleshoot network and application server hardware, network operating system software, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, and concentrators. Maintain required information assurance certification IAW DoD 8140 and/or DoD 8570.01-M, Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996 in order to ensure the rigorous application of information security and assurance policies in the delivery of network services Member must also ensure availability and use of quality assurance checklists to ensure equipment, systems, and software meet technical design specifications and are configured for optimal operation. Experience planning, developing, and administering the Quality Assurance (QA) programs. Develop the Quality Management Program (QMP) that documents the management and operational policies and procedures. Conduct quality assurance tests and perform routine inspections. Experience in the application and theory of specialization using applicable QA publications. Conduct equipment evaluations, adheres to Technical Orders, Local Work Cards, Corrosion Prevention, and Electronic Discharge programs are maintained. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have the following experiences: Data processing functions Applying general management principles Automating work processes Using computers Operating computer programs and systems Quality Assurance Experience Identification of unsatisfactory trends and conditions Experience in the preparation of technical reports on quality levels to identify specific problem areas and to recommend corrective action SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 36 months of the following experiences: Applying computer application techniques Planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish an assignment Coordinating with others outside the organizational unit Developing project controls Adapting guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment Preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies Summarizing and organizing material and organizing Experience involving principles, techniques and accepted practices of quality assurance work Briefing Squadron Commander/Director of Operations, and Wing/ACC inspectors on the units Quality Management Program Education Selectee must have a current IAT Level 2 Certificate.
