Summary The incumbent is a motor vehicle operator, transporting linen between the uniform shops, community living center, and domiciliary. Responsibilities The Motor Vehicle Operator's duties will include, but are not limited to: Operate vehicles with gross weight between 7,000 lbs and 22,000 lbs (1.5 ton to 2.5 ton capacity) Stocking linen rooms, making up linen carts, collecting soiled linen, uniform articles, etc., Perform operator checks and maintenance of all types of vehicles involving safety equipment, fluid levels, tire pressures, belts and hoses, etc. Determines the best and safest routes to follow and be alert to road conditions, hazards, making load adjustments to abide by all laws, weight, heights, and clearances Clean and take proper care of vehicles in the fleet for safe work practices at all times to prevent injury to personnel or damage to government property Maintains vehicle records and maintenance of vehicles (prepare request for parts, materials and services) Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 5:00am until 1:45pm Position Description Title/PD#: Motor Vehicle Operator / 60360-A Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/27/2021. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. The screen-out element for this position is the "Ability to do the work of the Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision." Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the Job Elements: Motor Vehicle (operation of motor vehicle) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean and in order) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Driver's License Requirement: The driver must have a valid current Class D Driver's License with F endorsement. (Copy of Your Current, Valid Driver's License is Required) Physical Requirements: Work requires moderate physical effort and stamina, muscular effort and foot, leg, eye, hand and arm coordination are required in driving. Physical labor during loading, unloading, etc., requires walking, standing, and stooping. Requires lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Working Conditions: Incumbent will perform work outside in all weather, and is subject to discomfort arising from working long periods in the sun, snow, and rainy weather, and is subject to exposure from lint, dust and fumes. Subject to physical injury from lifting and handling linen, materials and equipment. When driving is subject to traffic hazards.
