COST ACCOUNTANT - Entry Level with an Internship - Well-Respected Company in Johns Creek
We are seeking a Cost Accountant to join our client's team. This role will be responsible for a range of accounting tasks related to inventory management, cost accounting, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Inventory Cost Accounting Manager and contribute to the efficient and accurate valuation of inventory and cost management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the month-end closing procedures to accurately value inventory.
Create and maintain databases and generate reports and queries using Access.
Review inventory receipts for accuracy and post journal entries to the general ledger as required.
Maintain standard costs and Bills of Materials for all manufactured items.
Conduct periodic reviews of the general ledger and financial statements.
Adhere to established procedures for documenting standard costs and inventory values.
Reconcile general ledger accounts related to inventory.
Support the preparation of audit schedules and assist with audit requests as needed.
Participate in plant Inventory Cycle Count Audits (some travel required).
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
2-4 years of experience in a corporate accounting environment, with a background in manufacturing.
2+ years of inventory accounting experience in a manufacturing setting.
Strong understanding of current accounting principles.
Expertise in cost accounting.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Access.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
