Imperial Dade, leading national distributor, has a job open in Jessup, MD. The Transportation Manager will be responsible for supervising daily Transportation activities and personnel for a specific shift to ensure functions are performed within Company and Distribution Center guidelines. The incumbent will provide excellent customer service to stores serviced through timely order deliveries. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 5:30am to 3:00pm or 8:00am to 5:30pm. Due to the nature of the industry, the incumbent must be flexible with working hours.

Build and manage a cohesive transportation team which consists of supervisors, dispatchers, clerks, routers, and drivers.
Maximize the use of our equipment (i.e.: box trucks, tractors, and trailers)
Manage relationships with vendors
Ensure all drivers comply with company, federal, state, and local laws and regulations
Responsible for making sure all mandatory reporting (Hut, IFTA) are done on time and accurately
Develop KPI's for transportation staff's performance
Develop continuous improvement plans for key metrics
Strong ability to manage all the specifics above and beyond with one goal: to serve our customers.
Create and sustain a safety culture and a keen focus on safety
Previous experience and/or formal training or education in transportation, preferably with the logistics industry or in the grocery industry
Class A license is preferred
Possess thorough knowledge of material handling equipment and traffic management.
Must obtain a good working knowledge of government regulations pertaining to transportation.
Possess good leadership skills and the ability to supervise the work of others. Must be able to motivate and work with and through others to achieve desired results.
Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written. Deal effectively with a wide variety of people, both in person and over the telephone.
Basic computer skills are required, and personal computer experience is helpful, with word processing and spreadsheet applications preferred. Working knowledge of the onboard computer system is helpful.
Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities. Possess ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions.
