Job Overview:
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner functions under the supervision of the medical director in providing patient care utilizing the scope of practice defined by regulatory standards. He/She performs specific duties that are considered an integral part of the nursing team. To provide comprehensive ambulatory care to HIV positive children, adolescents and adults. The position is credentialed by the Medical-Dental Staff. Functions within the scope of practice are outlined in collaborative agreement with a supervising physician. A physician performs comprehensive history, physical, and psychosocial assessment to clients attending the Infectious Disease, Center for Comprehensive Care clinic.
Qualifications:
Required:
Master's degree in nursing
Current N.J. Licensure as an advanced nurse practitioner.
Preferred:
Experience and knowledge of HIV is preferred
Experience working with urban populations of multiple ethnic and cultural backgrounds
Good oral and written communication skills

Essential Functions:
Diagnoses and treats common acute conditions, illnesses or minor trauma within legally accepted protocols in collaboration with the physician.
Develops a treatment plan on every client.
Assesses the client's psychosocial, emotional, physiologic and environmental needs and priorities.
Informs, teaches, counsels, and guides the client and to assume responsibility for the management of his or her own health care.
Evaluates the client's response to the medical treatment and revises the plan of care as appropriate.
Participates in the clinics quality assurance plan by working toward clinic and required grant goals.
Participates in clinic audits by assisting in the preparing of client charts.
Responsible for adhering to and promoting clinics policies and procedures.
Participates in grand rounds and case conferences.
Attends in-services programs and continuing education to increase knowledge base.
Participates in clinical and departmental meetings and trainings as necessary and appropriate.
Maintains required organizational and departmental specific competencies.
Demonstrates flexibilities to meet staffing needs of department/organization.
Acts as a role model and resource person for those who are working directly and indirectly with the clients.
Promotes and fosters a positive work atmosphere.
Performs other duties as assigned
