Position Description:

Application Development Senior Manager, CitiDirect

This is an engineering manager role responsible for running with a global software development team assembled from both employees and contractors. This person will work on Citi’s CitiDirect Online Corporate Cash Management System with a focus on client administration services and security. The candidate will lead several automation and innovation initiatives to accelerate B2B and cash flow into the bank. Teams will be working with Agile methodology, Java related technology, and developing container-based cloud solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership guidance to a 40-member engineering team from design and development to production rollout.

  • Liaise with multiple technology, operations and product teams to create innovative and highly scaling solutions for our banking clients.

  • Ability to work effectively in cross-organizational situations and be enthusiastic about building quality software products with world-class people, processes and tools.

  • Facilitate troubleshooting and issue resolution related to application performance and recommend optimization.

  • Monitor progress and timelines of projects anticipate project issues and project risks, and escalate project issues.

  • Ensure that developed applications adhere to departmental software development standards and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Train and mentor development team in software integration, project documentation, and release management processes.

  • Possess highly effective written and oral communication skills; excellent organizational and project management skills.

  • Promotes teamwork and maintains effective communication within and across groups.

  • Ability to identify, highlight and manage risk appropriately.



  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field followed by ten (10) years of progressive experience in the offered position or a closely related position developing financial application.

  • Prior work experience must include: hands-on design and development of software applications. Experience with Java and Response user interfaces.

  • Experience with building software with continuous integration. Experience with private and public cloud systems managing confidential data.

  • Strong negotiation and influence skills. Experience with working in a highly matrixed organizations.

  • Ability with manage risk and track deliverables with project management office.

  • Experience with working with geographically distributed teams.

  • Excellent technical written and verbal communication skills.

  • Track record of managing and coaching development teams.

  • Ability to prioritize individual and team tasks and projects for multiple deliverables.
