Description of Job

Red Rocks Community College is seeking applications for a full-time Assistant Child Care Teacher (Toddler/Preschool) to join our Children’s Center.

Provide quality educational experiences by collaborating with the Toddler/Preschool caregivers, Center families and Center director to meet children's needs. Assist the primary caregivers by facilitating and supervising quality activities in the classroom and outdoors. Work to get to know the families in the Center, particularly in the assigned classroom and be competent in receiving and releasing children in the morning and afternoon and engaging in necessary and appropriate conversations with parents during that time. Assist primary caregivers by contributing anecdotes to individual assessment records.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have completed either ECE 101 or ECE 103 with 12 months (1820 hours) of verified experience in the care and supervision of four or more children under six years of age who are not related to the individual OR completion of both ECE 101 and ECE 103 with no experience. All courses must be completed with a course grade of "C" or above.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ECE 101 and ECE 103 with 12 months verified experience in care and supervision of four or more children under the age of six not related to the applicant.

  • Membership in or experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of students and staff from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented in the College.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Basic Knowledge of child development birth-5 years

  • Desire to be with young children

  • Flexible and willing to work effectively in a team

  • Able to provide excellent customer service to families

  • Willing to adapt to and proved services for diverse groups

Starting Salary: Starting salary is determined by education and experience in accordance with our compensation plan.
