Jay Peak Resort Security Officer - Evenings in Jay, Vermont

All Security Officers , under the direction of the Safety and Risk Management Department, are responsible for the execution of all security operations, emergency response and fire safety operations for Jay Peak Resort. They are responsible for providing protection to all land, building, employees and guests of Jay Peak while they are in or on the land, building and property owned or managed by Jay Peak. All Security Officers are part of a team that insures a safe environment for guests and associates. This involves patrolling, documenting, reporting, and following-up on safety and security hazards or infractions. Security Officers may also be required to carry out more general guest service tasks, such as delivering items to guest rooms. Security Officers must remain calm in emergencies and can balance great guest and associate relations with safety and security. Security Officers shall execute all security operations, emergency response and fire safety operation plans which seek to maintain a safe and secure environment. This plan shall be accomplished by the training and development of security officers, who are scheduled to specific security assignment in order to patrol and monitor all company property.
Evenings shifts, including weekends and special events. Schedule subject to change to accommodate resort business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES All Security Officers shall be well trained and versed in; (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
The execution of all patrol operations, crisis management, emergency response and fire safety, physical security, information protection, incident management and/or investigation.
They must also work to prevent damage and losses by executing all operations plans and enforcing security and fire safety policies and procedures.
Patrol operations shall consist of, but not limited to, tracked rounds and surveillance of all land, building and property (present and under construction) owned or managed by Jay Peak.
These may include directed patrol of high traffic and incident areas, such as outside the dining facilities (where large numbers of skis are left during the day and early evening hours) and in the liquor licensed areas (bars, restaurants and convenience store).
Crisis management/emergency response, incident reporting, management and investigation shall consist of, but not limited to, response to injured employees and guests for proper first aid, CPR or AED treatment.
Motor vehicle accidents, incidents of criminal nature or Jay Peak guest conduct (such as theft, vandalism, assaults, smoke/fire/protection alarms, noise disturbances, animal complaints, open fires, and intoxicated persons or employees).
Daily fire safety inspections designed to meet State of Vermont requirements.
Use good judgment in awkward situations, knowing when to consult with management before moving forward.
Be prepared to speak with knowledge to the amenities that the resort and our local communities have to offer.
Assist guests in many ways, to include but not limited to:
Carrying luggage (sometimes up numerous flights of stairs in various weather)
Snow removal (or coordination of) to assist guests who might be stuck
Delivery of items to guests (cots, etc.).
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid Vermont driver's license
Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification annually
May possess or obtain EMT status and/or Firefighter I certification as needs arise
Must stay current with OSHA training requirements
Must be able to make good decisions in difficult situations
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Must have flexibility in schedule (be available on weekends and holidays including Christmas and New Years)
Must be able to work independently when the resort has low occupancy (no access to computers, no lengthy phone conversations that are not business-related).

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic computer skills with focus on proprietary software used for access control, surveillance and incident reporting systems.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS
