Jay Peak Resort Human Resources Engagement Specialist in Jay, Vermont

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for Jay Peak team member engagement and retention through a variety of functions by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

  • Creates and organizes Employee of the Month, Employee of the Year, Legacy Project, and Root Down events, along with the resort wide Holiday Party.

  • Coordinates with the Marketing team to develop media and collateral for employee events.

  • Works closely with the HR Coordinator to oversee Raised Right on-the-spot recognition, employee event registrations and event management and administration.

  • Maintains the perks and recognition programming, evaluates and develops new programming to appeal to, engage and retain employees.

  • Composes employee informational and recognition announcements and notices and distributes them through all appropriate channels, including social media, email and webpages.

  • Creates high-quality Jay Peak brand visual presentations. (ie. open enrollment, staff meetings, orientation)

  • Conducts exit interviews to determine reasons for departure.

  • Develops surveys and other tools to monitor and evaluate employee satisfaction.

  • Organizes and facilitates resort employee orientations.

  • Maintains knowledge, understanding and administration of all company policies and procedures, specifically the employee handbook.

  • Oversees employee cycle from recruitment to separation to monitor engagement and retention as well as compliance with report policies.

  • Collaborates with department leaders to create training for staff development.

  • Manages the resort’s Job Description Library and works closely with department leaders to ensure that all descriptions are up to date and accurate.

  • Works alongside Director to analyze wage and salary reports and other data to determine a competitive and equitable compensation plan for the organization.

  • Assists Director in overseeing and managing Performance Review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance and equity within organization and drive high performance.

  • In conjunction with Director, provides advice to management teams on how to correct poor performance, employee misconduct and employee relations issues.

  • Works to resolve employee grievances and appeals.

  • Participates in employee investigations, maintaining necessary documentation.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor, which could be directly related, or unrelated to original position.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Payroll systems and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products.

    OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

    This position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people, from entry level employees to Executive Managers, to Insurance Brokers.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

RESORT CONDITIONS

This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Workdays and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
