Jay Peak Resort Accounts Payable Clerk - Seasonal in Jay, Vermont

The Accounts Payable Clerk will process and manage vendor invoices and payments, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner. This role will also assist with maintaining proper documentation and reconciling accounts payable records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

  • Execute assigned task in a timely and accurate manner

  • Assist with month-end closing activities related to payables.

  • Assist in preparing month-end accounts payable reports for management.

  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures.

  • Support internal and external audit requests related to payables.

  • Process vendor invoices and match them with purchase orders and receiving documents.

  • Verify the accuracy of invoice amounts, terms, and conditions.

  • Prepare and process payments, including checks, wire transfers, and ACH payments.

  • Maintain organized and accurate accounts payable records.

  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.

  • Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status.

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    One year certification from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook as well as internet access and e-mail.

    OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Ability to work in a team environment, and be flexible in learning other team member tasks and duties as needed.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    RESORT CONDITIONS

    This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area, and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Workdays and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
