BASIC FUNCTIONS:

This position is responsible for the supervising shift operations of all Departments. This position assures the quality of work and on-time deliveries with the least expenditures as possible. This position must demonstrate and lead the shift with Passion, Integrity, Continuous Improvement and the ability to Deliver Results. This person will actively participate in site safety; demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors and conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures.

The incumbent must be knowledgeable of governmental environmental regulations and Valmont procedures and practices. The supervisor will train subordinates accordingly and oversee the shift’s environmental practices.

Responsibilities:

Production Supervisors report directly to the Operations Manager. This job is accountable for steel fabrication operations. The Production Supervisor is directly responsible for the production of the shift. This person must supervise to keep the lowest possible cost on labor and material, ensure on-time deliveries, 100% of acceptable quality, and managed in a safe and orderly environment.

The Supervisor will execute procedures to maintain an effective, disciplined, and well trained workforce. The Supervisor must be knowledgeable of all machine operations, job functions and

Manufacturing techniques to support the daily operation. The Supervisor will mentor lead persons to build and maintain a team effort.

Be responsible for directing, identifying training needs, and evaluating all shift employees to meet or exceed production objectives.

  • Manages staffing levels for the manufacturing, finishing, and shipping areas.

  • Manages activities related to shop floor control, packets, labor reporting, and materials reporting.

  • Communicate with others to determine the proper procedure to get tasks accomplished.

  • Analyze set-up times for accuracy, review labor hours, and meet production control schedules.

  • Establishes and enforces quality expectations to meet or exceed the customers’ expectations.

  • Promote, institute, and maintain a safe, clean, and hazard free work environment.

  • Will be responsible for providing leadership and compliance to Valmont Jasper’s loss control objectives e.g. TOSHA, EPA, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Control costs and expenses by working with employees and teams to identifying and reduce consumables and eliminate waste.

  • Be responsible for the maintenance of the facility, housekeeping, and the equipment during his/her shift.

  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives

JOB SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

Required

The incumbent should possess an Associate Degree in Industrial Manufacturing, or

Management experience (3 to 5 years) that would provide through knowledge of manufacturing practices

Leadership skills.

Strong Communication Skills

Welding Background

Ability to perform work in a heavy manufacturing environment in a managerial and supervisory capacity

Strong analytical and decision making skills to perform the functions of the position.

Preferred

Bachelors’ Degree in Industrial Manufacturing or Management.

Good understanding of Valmont’s manufacturing process.
