Job Summary Ready to play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe distribution of energy? Alliant Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Relief Distribution Operator. In this role you will be at the forefront of our operations, managing the flow of energy to our communities and ensuring reliable services delivery. Our Relief Distribution Operators relieve and perform the duties of a Distribution Center Dispatcher and Distribution Operator as required. Progression is an essential part of the role, with the expectation to bid for and accept a Distribution Operator position, providing valuable opportunities for career growth and development. This position is responsible for taking after-hours emergency calls, responding to outages and trouble calls on the distribution system and customer services. Due to this the position has a residency requirement of 30 minutes from appointed operating center. What you will do * Completes necessary training for the Distribution Operator position under the direction of the Sr. Resource Coordinator. * Receives and executes orders from the Transmission System Operations, GENCO System Operation Center or other authorized personnel and dispatches employees as described in the Electric Emergency Manual. * Responds to emergencies in accordance with company policies and procedures to minimize customer impact (SAIFI, SAIDI, etc.), taking all necessary actions to maintain system integrity by: sectionalizing, monitoring system conditions, or other appropriate action. * Uses distribution system tools and applications to monitor gas and electric systems. Takes action, documents and reports as required. * Initiates emergency call tree action and routes information to appropriate departments and personnel (i.e. Field Operations Leadership, Corporate Communications, Key Account Manager, etc.). * Notifies proper personnel and dispatches company technicians on electric and gas trouble, and service calls. * Receives and dispatches all emergency Digger\'s Hotline requests throughout the company. * Follows prescribed company policies and procedures. * Must be able to work in a highly stressful environment and able to deal with multiple tasks and situations simultaneously. * Responds to after hour emergencies as required. * Performs other duties which are similar, related, or incidental to this position. Education Requirements * High School Diploma or GED * Associate Degree Preferred Preferred Experience * 2 years of experience in utility operations/ construction * Prior dispatch experience Other Requirements * Must possess a valid driver\'s license. * This job is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug and alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40 and 199), and is subject to drug testing according to said regulations.
