We cannot accept cash. VACANCIES: At present one (1) vacancy exists in the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities. DUTIES: A Mechanical Engineer performs moderately difficult mechanical engineering work for the Electric Generating Power Station. The incumbent plans work and carries out administrative, supervisory and engineering tasks to ensure the efficient delivery of services. Considerable leeway is allowed for the exercise of independent judgement in the planning of work details and in making technical decisions. General direction is provided by the General Manager. Does related work as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and; A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four-year college or university with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and four years of full-time paid experience in Mechanical Engineering work; OR B. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four-year college or university with an Associate in Science degree, with major in Engineering Science, Math or Physics, and eight years of full-time paid experience in Mechanical Engineering work; OR Note: Two years of work in the specific engineering discipline = one year of education. High School + experience is not acceptable. EDUCATION/AGE REQUIREMENT: Candidates who will meet education/age requirements within 12 months of the exam date, will be permitted to take the examination but will not be eligible for canvassing or permanent appointment until proof of fulfilling the education/age requirements have been furnished to this office.
