Lutheran Maintenance Mechanic I-LHRC in Jamestown, New York

Position Title: Environmental Services, Maintenance Mechanic 1

Facility & Division Name: Lutheran Social Services

Lutheran is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Mechanic I. The ideal candidate must have some flexibility to work weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule. This is an entry-level Maintenance Mechanic position.

Purpose of this position:

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, works individually or with others performing general maintenance or project functions relative to the upkeep and improvement of the electrical, mechanical, structural and plumbing system of the LSS campus and other properties owned by LSS.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. (A minimum of 5 years relevant experience considered in lieu of diploma or equivalent)

Two years’ experience working in a related trade is preferred.

Successful completion of a trade school or public vocation program is preferred (Experience requirement can be waived in lieu of vocational program completion.)

Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English.

Must possess the willingness and capacity to be trained in other areas of maintenance and pursue a path of personal growth.

Must have a valid NYS driver’s license with no moving violations.

Salary Range: $16.00 min - $23.15

Job Description:

  • Performs preventative and general maintenance/repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.

  • Works on a rotating on-call and weekend schedule with variable shift hours

  • Performs corrective maintenance on various fixtures such as furniture, interior and exterior surfaces of the building to include minor roof repairs.

  • Performs general maintenance on heating, cooling and ventilation systems.

  • Performs snow removal.

  • Works with and is subject to receive training from Maintenance II staff members.

  • Collects and disposes of trash.

  • Transports tables and chairs and sets up and tears down for campus events.

  • Generally, remains available to work at a variety of tasks related to emergency responses on campus.

  • Must be able to document work accomplished.

  • Under extreme circumstances may perform some housekeeping related duties.

  • Occasional grounds keeping may be required.

  • Siemens Building Control Systems-understands the use of the SBCS for troubleshooting and maintains comfortable living and working conditions for both residents and staff.

  • Basic working knowledge of system.

  • Understands alarm screens.

  • Can maneuver through graphic screens.

  • Understands Uninvent and Fancoil operations.

  • Understands HR, HRU, RTU, pumps, valves, etc., operation and monitoring functions.

  • Use of system for troubleshooting applications.

  • Maintenance Mechanic 2 assists Maintenance Mechanic 1 in developing skills.

  • Maintenance Mechanic 1 seeks assistance from Maintenance Mechanic 2 in developing skills.

  • Accurate record keeping through the use of the Maintenance Management Control System, keeping accurate numbers and information.

  • Accurately records proper regular and OT hours.

  • Charges proper departments and categories.

  • Collects proper information and assets and equipment.

  • Accurately records proper part information in connection with parts ordered, used, cost and charged outs through the use of purchase orders.

  • Safety – Follows required safety procedures

  • In-service's – Attends all required In-service training

  • Other duties as assigned
