Acosta Group Payroll Project Manager Sr - Hybrid in Jacksonville, Florida

DESCRIPTION

The Payroll Project Manager Sr. will manage complex projects from planning through delivery. Serve as the Business Process Lead (BPL) for company-initiated projects that directly impact Payroll, Time and Labor/Absence projects. Support enterprise-wide project plans by taking the lead on the transition from various legacy payroll/timekeeping systems in US and Canada. Cross training Payroll staff, defining/reviewing integration requirements and provide testing support. Take lead on gathering payroll/timekeeping/reporting requirements and deploying new systems/processes/reports to fulfill them.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the liaison between project members, cross-functional teams, external vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure deliverables, requirements, schedules, cost, and meeting plans are communicated.

  • Lead for the implementation of new Payroll, Time, and Labor systems by defining requirements with Business Process Owner, gain alignment across subject matter experts, coordinate with related vendors, provide input to implementation partner and project team.

  • Drive policy development impacting payroll systems and contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive communication and /or training material.

  • Coordinate testing across team and lead test cycles.

  • Researches, analyzes, and recommends changes to an organization's business processes to improve operational efficiencies, quality, service, and profitability.

  • Document processes, participate in training development and delivery, ensure readiness and cutover activities for go live.

  • Ensure payroll systems are configured and compliant with internal policies, payroll cycle processes and the at procedures.

  • Assist with year-end process for legal entities (Reporting, tax forms generation, T2200s), worker’s compensation for all provinces, legislative compliance.

  • Cross training Payroll associates, answering general queries and providing guidance where required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Finance, Accounting or related field

  • 10+ years of related experience in management consulting, payroll / finance team, or a related field

  • 8 years managing global HCM deployment

  • Payroll Certification (CPP) desire

Work Experience:

  • Exceptional knowledge and understanding of payroll, time, and HR systems and the ability to write/document payroll process workflows

  • Advanced knowledge of Payroll legislation across Canada (US and UK to some extent)

  • Understanding of the end-to-end payroll process – from HR data flow, to time, to payroll, GL, and tax reporting

  • Knowledgeable on changing legislation for taxes, and employment standards. (researching and implementing system changes to ensure compliance)

  • Capable of understanding business needs and recommending system/process solution

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills for liaison with vendors, implementation consultants, benefit providers, extended team members

  • Analytical, problem solving, and creative solutioning skills

  • Strong cross functional relationship with colleagues from Payroll HR/IT/Finance/Compensation

  • Advanced Excel, pivot and Power Point skills

  • Strong technical aptitude – able to read system documentation, comprehend, implement/maintain systems
