POSITION: Groundskeeper 1
DEPARTMENT: Facilities
REPORTS TO: Grounds Manager
FLSA STATUS: Part-time/Hourly/Non-exempt
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Turf grass maintenance
Day-to-day operation of landscape maintenance contract as well as landscaping at each of the ASM-managed facilities
Monitors TruGreen Chemlawn fertilizer and pesticide chemical applications
Helps with record keeping of equipment maintenance.
Works special events at Jacksonville Stadium and practice fields.
Other duties may be assigned.

Must have attention to detail.
Must have good oral communication skills.
Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
Must be results driven.
Must have good organizational skills.
Must be proficient in handling and controlling powered turf maintenance equipment (reel mowers, utility carts, tractors, top dresser, and hand tools) and to perform minor maintenance on same
Must be familiar with basic sport field layouts, field painting, irrigation repairs and minor equipment maintenance.
Must be highly motivated and able to lead staff in carrying out working assignments.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Education and/or Experience
Associates Degree of Certification in Turfgrass or Landscape Management preferred; or three year minimum equivalent experience with High School Diploma or GED required
Fertilizer/Pesticide application knowledge required.
Understanding of MSDS and applicable laws related to pesticide applications.
Must be able to read and understand fertilizer and chemical labels, MSDS sheets and applicable laws related to pesticide applications.
Computer Skills
Operate a personal computer using Windows and Microsoft Office software.
Operate standard office equipment including copier, printer, and fax machine.

High noise level
Work performed outside 90% of the time and subject to adverse weather conditions.
In and out of doors several times a day
Exposure to heat and cold, dust pollen and fumes
Required to utilize protective equipment as may be needed for the specific task.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.
Requires extensive physical effort: continuous standing, bending, lifting (up to 100 lbs.)
Exposure to hazards of field maintenance chemicals – pesticides, etc.
Constant reaching, standing, walking, and stooping.
Performing work through repetitive eye/hand coordination
Must be able to read signs and follow oral and written instructions.
Must be able to hear sufficiently to clearly hear voices, alarms, bells, and horns and to distinguish color.
