University of North Florida Coordinator of Outreach, Recruitment, and Community Engagement in Jacksonville, Florida

General Description / Primary Purpose:

The Coordinator Outreach, Recruitment, and Community Engagement reports directly to the Dean of the College of Computing, Engineering and Construction. CCEC engages in numerous outreach, recruitment, community engagement, and retention activities to increase the number of students in the pipeline considering computing, engineering, and construction management degrees as well as to support, promote, and retain these students during the course of their studies at UNF. Under the direction of the Dean, various activities associated with outreach, recruitment, community engagement, and retention will be coordinated and marketed by this position as a single package designed to create a continuum of activities and support from K-12 through graduation from college. In addition, the community engagement aspects of the position include working and partnering with alumni, donors, and corporations on events and partnerships that would be beneficial to the College.

Job Functions:

Identifies and reports to the Dean potential companies and individuals to partner with for outreach and engagement activities, with an emphasis on STEM. Meets with external representatives of companies to build partnerships and implement outreach and engagement programs. Develop and maintain knowledge in the various outreach activities of the units within CCEC; Maintain knowledge of all CCEC programs and similar programs of competing institutions; Recommend ways to combine and coordinate currently disparate activities into a single package designed to create a continuum of activities and support from K-12 through graduation from College; Coordinate activities across the College to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency; Market various outreach, recruitment, and retention activities, services and programs offered by the College; Attend outreach and recruitment events as necessary in conjunction with Faculty and Staff in the College; Develop, seek approvals, and implement new outreach, engagement, and recruitment activities; Meet with potential students to determine their interests and then match them with appropriate activities and that may help attract or retain them as students; Work in conjunction with other offices on campus to seek funding through grants and donations to support outreach and recruitment activities; Monitor and collect appropriate data on the College's outreach and recruitment activities to assist the Dean and Chairs in evaluating the effectiveness of any given activity and to ensure that the programs are being managed properly; Coordinate and assist in the management and operation of the CCEC events and programs; Facilitate appropriate targeted outreach efforts in local K-12 schools to support the enrollment goals of the University; Serve on project teams as requested that enhance the development of internal processes that impact recruitment, admission and retention of freshmen students; Prepare and present recruiting and information programs to K-12 students; Create enrollment reports from university system to support decision making and help guide marketing and recruiting strategies; Help to develop and implement, in conjunction with the appropriate offices at the University, integrated marketing plans and strategies to attract and enroll freshmen students at the University; Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in outreach, community engagement, and recruitment by attending workshops, conferences or other professional development activities as deemed necessary; Work with other individuals within the College and University to provide workshops and activities for students; work with the College Director of Development and Career Services team on engagement with corporations and donors and event planning.

Essential Functions:

Facilitate collaborative relationships and on-going communica ion with community colleges and high school faculty, counselors and administrators in coordination with UNF Enrollment Services; Completion of other duties related to outreach, student recruitment and retention as assigned. During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence. Marginal Functions: Organize and develop materials to promote opportunities for current and prospective students; Support faculty and staff of CCEC in outreach and recruitment activities to K-12 schools. Departmental Requirements: At least three years of work experience in a university setting; Experience with the development of STEM outreach programs; Budget Management experience; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Flexibility to maintain a schedule that will include travel, occasional weekends, and evening work assignment.

Supervision Received:

The incumbent develops procedures for performing a variety of complex duties within established guidelines; has considerable freedom while the work is in process and receives instructions on new assignments.

Level of Public Contact:
