Amentum Wastewater Technician in Iwakuni, Japan
This position will be based in Japan, primarily at a customer location aboard Marine Corp Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, in support of the Amentum Base Operations & Support contract with the US Department of Defense (DoD)/Navy- Marine Corps.
A successful candidate will have strong communication and problem-solving skills to support a rewarding customer mission. This is full time position providing operational mission support.
In addition to meeting the necessary qualifications the selected candidate must be comfortable working in a dynamic and high-energy environment.
Working Environment: Non-SOFA assignment
Work Schedule: This position works eight hours/day five days a week minimum. The candidate participates in a 24/7 duty phone rotation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of two activated sludge wastewater plants. Systems must be operational 24 hours per day 365 days per year.
Custodial responsibility for work areas and management of tools, equipment, and spare parts for the wastewater treatment plants.
Repair, maintenance, installation, and modernization of wastewater treatment for buildings and grounds.
Collection of wastewater samples, lab testing and analysis, recording data for regulatory reports and adjusting chemical feed rates accordingly.
Operates chemical feed systems and monitors storage tank levels throughout the site.
Interprets system operation readings and make recommendations for needed corrective actions.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Experience and Qualification Levels:
Experience in municipal water or wastewater treatment systems
Knowledge of the techniques, equipment, materials, and regulations used in the maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment equipment and systems.
Education:
- A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator vocational diploma or completion of an Apprentice program is preferred.
Language Requirement:
Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing Japanese including reading and using building diagrams and technical manuals.
Bilingual in speaking English and Japanese is preferred.
Professional Licenses & Certifications:
- Wastewater certification or equivalent experience
Other Requirements:
Candidate must possess a valid passport of home country with a minimum of 12 months remaining to expiration date, if not currently a resident of Japan.
Will be expected to obtain a company-sponsored Japanese Work Visa if not currently a resident of Japan.
Position requires the applicant to drive in the performance of work duties. Applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Japanese Driver License and be able to operate a Company provided motor vehicle on MCAS Iwakuni.
Transportation is not provided to locally hired personnel for the purpose of commute to and from the workplace. Non-locally hired are expected to obtain and maintain the legal ability to operate a Company provided vehicle both on and off the installation for the purpose of commute and/or on-site transportation. Those unable to obtain and maintain the legal means to operate a motor vehicle in Japan or aboard the installation will be responsible for their own transportation for all purposes.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
