Asempe Kitchen Kitchen Assistant in Ithaca, New York
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic team member to join our dynamic restaurant team. As a key player in our operations, you will contribute to providing outstanding service and quality in various aspects of our culinary offerings, including buffet services, pop-up dinners, cooking classes, and market promotions.
Weekly Schedule:
Monday: 11 AM - 3 PM, 4:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Tuesday: Closed
Wednesday: 4 PM - 8 PM
Thursday: 11 AM - 3 PM, 4:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Friday: 11 AM - 3 PM, 5 PM - 9 PM
Saturday: 10:30 AM - 4 PM, 5 PM - 9 PM
Sunday: 11 AM - 1 PM, 2 PM - 4 PM and possibly 5 PM - 9 PM
Responsibilities:
Assist in food preparation and serving at buffet lunches, dinners, and pop-up events.
Participate in cooking classes and engage with customers during events.
Support market promotions and assist in creating a positive customer experience.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas according to health and safety standards.
Adhere to kitchen rules, policies, and procedures consistently.
Skills and Qualifications:
Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Reliable, punctual, and customer-focused.
Ability to handle money and maintain accurate records.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Food Handlers certification (or willingness to obtain certification).
Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods and lift up to 30lbs.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required.
Preferred Qualifications:
1-3 years of professional kitchen experience.
Previous experience in customer service roles.
Familiarity with Health Department guidelines and food safety protocols.
