Job Title: Support Engineer 2

Location: Onsite, Las Colinas, Fargo, Charlotte, or Redmond WA

Duration: 18 Months contract

Pay Range: $31.49/hr. - $33.81/hr.

The primary role of a Support Engineer is to offer technical assistance to computer system users. A Support Engineer typically addresses client queries, resolves computer issues, and offers support either in person, over the phone, or remotely.

Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience:

  1. Minimum 3 years’ experience with one or more Big Data or Analytics Products and Services.

  2. Minimum 3 years’ experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, HBase, Kafka, and Azure HDInsight.

  3. Minimum 3 years’ experience with Developer Experience: Python, Scala, R.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer support experience within Microsoft.

  • Take ownership of, troubleshoot, and resolve customer technical issues using collaboration, troubleshooting best practices, and transparency within and across teams.

  • Identify cases requiring escalation, either technically or strategically.

  • Generate and manage incident management requests to product or engineering groups.

  • Contribute to case deflection initiatives, automation, and other digital self-help assets to enhance customer and engineer experiences.

  • Offer ramp activities, knowledge sharing, technical coaching, and mentoring.

  • Foster technical collaboration and engagement outside of CSS, involving Product Engineering teams, Services, Support, and Regions.

  • Lead or participate in community-building activities with peer delivery roles, potentially workload or specialty specific.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with one or more Big Data or Analytics Products and Services.

  • Proficiency in Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, HBase, Kafka, and Azure HDInsight.

  • Familiarity with Cloud Streaming technologies.

  • Knowledge of the Open-Source Ecosystem (Linux, Apache, etc.).

  • Developer Experience: Python, Scala, R.

  • Strong problem-solving skills including troubleshooting, problem analysis and resolution, and good judgment/decision-making ability.

  • Adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with a track record of successful collaboration with internal and external groups.

  • Self-motivated and independent thinker capable of translating circumstances and understanding into actions that drive measurable business progress.

  • Ability to distill, prioritize, and act on feedback from various sources.

  • An ideal candidate would possess multiple years of experience in support engineering, troubleshooting, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
