Caris Life Sciences Principal Enterprise Architect in Irving, Texas

Position Summary

The Principal Enterprise Architect is a hands-on position that will assist in bridging the corporate strategy/roadmap with architectural design solutions collaborating with other architects to provide a secure, scalable, highly reliable and highly available network. This role requires a skilled, dedicated, and proactive Architect with a passion for finding solutions to meet the technical challenges presented by the business, this person will also look for ways to improve internal processes to help the network team streamline operations, this person will have strong collaborative and technical skills to operate in a fast-paced growing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to demonstrated expert level knowledge in 2 of the following areas, datacenter, and campus network architecture planning and design, leveraging network automation to streamline processes, and deployment of network solutions in cloud (AWS, Azure and GCP).

  • Develop and Maintain technology roadmaps as well as participate in strategic planning in an architect role.

  • Provide direction to operational support teams for network on-prem and cloud strategies.

  • Lead the architecture in redesigning and modernizing the network Architecture. This includes championing best architecture practices in the cloud, on-prem and edge.

  • Lead architect collaborating with internal and external teams to mature and align the architecture to fit departmental and organizational goals targeting enterprise architecture standards.

  • Hands on expertise with routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, wired and wireless infrastructure on-prem and cloud native solutions.

  • Assists in defining processes and procedures to manage network security.

  • Provides technical support and consultation for enhancement of and changes to network configurations and associated processes following change management procedures.

  • Communicates complex technical information to team members and many levels of management.

  • Ensure that the system design balances functional, service quality and systems management requirements.

  • Participates in and provide input for solutions outlining risk, cost, benefits and resource planning for projects and initiative implementations.

  • Mentor other architects and engineers within the team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field and/or combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 5+ years of lead network engineer or architecture experience.

  • Minimum of 10+ years network engineer experience.

  • Experience in multiple networking and security platforms including but not limited to Cisco Routers/Switches, Juniper Routers/Switches, Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco ASA, Juniper and Cisco Wireless environments.

  • In-depth knowledge of Palo Alto and Cloud Native firewalls.

  • Strong understanding of wireless, VOIP, QOS, network segmentation and security technologies such as but not limited to firewalls.

  • Ability to adapt, work in a fast-paced environment and champion change.

  • Experience managing cloud/hybrid infrastructures.

  • Experience implementing HIPAA, PCI and PII regulated best practices.

  • Excellent organizational, project management and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.

  • Strong ability to mentor, coach, and train engineers.

  • Conditions of Employment: Individuals must successfully complete pre-employment process, which includes criminal background check, drug screening, and reference verification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Service Now preferred or similar ticketing system.

  • Experience working in a healthcare organization.

  • Cisco CCIE, CCNP, CEA and Palo PCNSA certified professional.

  • Experience working in Agile Framework.

  • Ability to work with teams that are geographically distributed and work across different time zones.

Physical Demands

  • Must possess ability to sit, stand, and/or work at a computer for long periods of time.

  • May have exposure to blood-borne pathogens, extreme temperatures, high noise levels, fumes and bio-hazardous material/chemicals including formalin in the lab environment.

  • Occasional lifting of items up to 35 lbs. is required when installing some IT equipment.

Other

  • This position requires periodic travel and some evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
