The Payroll Manager Level 2 is responsible for managing the payroll process for the organization, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery, compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and providing strategic input for payroll process improvements. This role involves supervising a team of payroll professionals and working closely with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing:

  • Oversee and manage the preparation and processing of bi-weekly and weekly payrolls for all employees, including but not limited to daily and pay period audit reports

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, leaves and changes to pay rates, i.e. manual, off-cycle payments

  • Prepare various payroll reports and summaries for leadership teams

  • Establish and maintain key performance indicators to reflect the team's efforts toward NG organizational goals.

System Management:

  • Collaborate with internal functional managers to manage payroll systems and ensure they are functioning effectively,

  • Coordinate with external function and technical support teams to resolve payroll system issues and implement system upgrades.

Team Management:

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate payroll staff; provide leadership and guidance.

  • Coordinate and assign work to ensure efficient payroll operations.

  • Foster a positive team environment and promote collaboration and continuous improvement.

Strategic Planning:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Participate in the development of payroll policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with internal partners, i.e. HR, benefits, timekeeping to support overall business objectives and strategies.

To succeed in this role, candidates will need:

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation required.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

  • Proficient in payroll software (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Salary Range: $108,900 - $163,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
