You'll work alongside a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary team, leveraging your expertise to optimize performance and reliability in satellite tracking. This is your opportunity to lead impactful projects, from concept through production, and shape the future of satellite communication technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement high-precision control systems for full-motion ground station antennas, ensuring reliability in satellite tracking.

  • Develop and optimize PID control loops tailored to various motion control applications.

  • Architect electrical and control system frameworks for both new developments and existing product enhancements using CAN bus standards or similar protocols.

  • Utilize embedded C programming to create and troubleshoot control applications.

  • Work with brushless DC motors and servo drives to achieve desired motion control performance.

Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to integrate control systems seamlessly into our products.

Conduct comprehensive system modeling, simulation, and analysis to predict and enhance system performance.

Generate and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and user manuals.

Uphold stringent standards for product cost and quality throughout the design and development lifecycle.

Lead the development of engineering products, ensuring adherence to standards, processes, procedures, and tools across the entire development cycle.

Conduct research and analyze data from customer design proposals and specifications to assess the feasibility of application designs.

Facilitate engineering reviews to enhance project quality and ensure alignment with objectives and schedules.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and technicians involved in project execution.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Over 10 years of experience in control systems within automated systems, with a preference for antenna design expertise.

  • Proven proficiency in brushless DC motors, servo drives, and motion control systems.

  • Strong command of embedded C programming for control applications.

  • Experience in designing electrical and control system architectures, including experience with CAN bus, CANopen (preferred) or similar protocols.

  • Exceptional analytical skills with a creative approach to problem-solving.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a meticulous attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and engineering design software.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and deliver results within deadlines.

  • Demonstrated leadership in driving engineering projects from inception to successful completion.

  • This position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Embedded software controls

• Challenge there is somebody that went to school for a BSEE, doing digital design, circuits then moved over to the embedded SW side

• Fred did this, BSEE then moved to SW and developed embedded SW for many years

• The control is working really closely with the HW so they can do the embedded software

• Feedback loop- communicators and drives, in this code he is writing if the motor is moving at the right speed, PID loops

• This makes a good engineer, because of their BSEE experience they know the systems aspect to turn on the motor

• Unique mixture of HW and SW

• They write the code in to their individual control chips- C code

• They are writing the code that manipulates the hw, understand the HW enough

• Not building a new circuit card or design a card, have to work with the HW team to say it needs to be this power/frequency, etc

• Once they have this will go and write the code, while the HW guy goes and builds

Experience Level:

  • 10+ years of experience
