This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work an 8-hour shift scheduled during our normal business hours of (7:30am - 4:00pm) Pacific Time. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime and weekends.
Training will be conducted virtually from your home.
This is a challenging role that takes an ability to thoroughly review, analyze and research complex health care claims in order to identify discrepancies, verify pricing, confirm prior authorizations and process them for payment. You’ll need to be comfortable navigating across various computer systems to locate critical information. Attention to detail is critical to ensure accuracy which will ensure timely processing of the member's claim.
Assist with escalated claims to resolve complex issues for team members and internal customers
Support implementation of updates to the current procedures and assist with new system training/mentoring
Review guidelines as well as benefit plan documents and certificates to ensure proper benefits have been applied to each claim
Analyze and identify trends and provides reports as necessary

High school diploma / GED (or higher)
3+ years of experience in a related environment (i.e. office, administrative, clerical, customer service, etc.) using phones and computers as the primary job tools
1+ year experience processing medical, dental, prescription or mental health claims
Ability to work from 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Pacific Time, Monday through Friday with overtime, weekends and holidays as needed
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word (ability to open, create, edit, save, and send documents and other forms of documents), Microsoft Excel (ability to open, create, edit, save, and send spreadsheets) and Microsoft Outlook (ability to open, create, edit, save, and send emails)
If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders.
