Location :

  • Irvine, CA (1 day/week in Pomona, CA )

  • Salary Range : $21 - $24 per hour

  • Work Type : Combination of field and office (10%-20% fieldwork)

  • Travel : Up to 20%

    About the Role :

    Join RailPros as a Project Management/Construction Management (PMCM) Intern Engineer and be part of a team dedicated to the rehabilitation of railroad infrastructure . This is a unique opportunity to work on rail projects that span track, drainage, bridges, and rail facilities , gaining insight into the safety practices, construction productivity, and QA/QC processes needed for successful project completion. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, support inspectors, and learn to manage project documentation, cost estimates , and more.

    This internship provides a hands-on learning environment , combining both office work and field experience . If you’re looking for a practical role that applies your academic knowledge to real-world rail/civil projects , this is the perfect opportunity to enhance your technical skills while contributing to important infrastructure projects.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Document Control : Manage and organize project-related documentation.

  • Inspection Reports : Review and analyze reports for accuracy.

  • Fieldwork : Shadow inspections and take notes during site visits.

  • Bridge Load Rating : Assist with calculations and sketches.

  • Project Scheduling & Budgeting : Help update project timelines and cash flows.

  • Utility Coordination : Assist in managing utility aspects of the project.

  • Contract Administration : Support contract documentation and processes.

  • Submittal Reviews : Verify construction submittals against design criteria and standards.

  • Environmental Research : Conduct minor research related to engineering and environmental factors.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic communication tools (email, text).

  • Basic communication skills (oral and written).

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills .

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong teamwork and collaborative abilities .

  • Attention to detail and commitment to accurate, high-quality work.

  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing demands.

    Required Education & Experience :

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.

  • No prior experience required .
