THE ROLE

The Associate Vice President for Service Engineering focused on Data Network Services is accountable to drive continuous improvement across the Providence Saint Joseph Health technology services ecosystem with a specific focus on Data Networking Services through three key areas:

Service Management: Lead the maturity journey of this service offering leveraging a Devops approach that focuses on continuously increasing reliability of our core network. Both modernizing from a “Get Current” perspective ensuring future proofing by deploying Network Technologies relevant to healthcare. Leverage continuous improvement practices with effective data analytics to deliver increased reliability of what is the foundation of almost ALL other strategies in healthcare.

Service Engineering: In partnership with executive and operational leadership, Engineer appropriate network solutions to the demands or our consumers in both Information Services and all clinical settings. These solutions need to be non-blocking for new requirements from applications as long as security needs are met. They need to be the most cost efficient we can achieve while still maintaining extremely high reliability along with technology future proofing.

Service Modernization and Management: Continue to mature services under this portfolio. WAN, DNS, DHCP, IP Networking, Cloud and Data Center, along with Edge platform management all have get and stay current initiatives under way. Partner with operational leaders inside and outside Information Services to understand technology needs and rapidly develop forward facing modern solutions to address gaps. Ensure ongoing support and compliance for application ecosystem.

The Associate Vice President for Service Engineering will lead a team of engineers, developers, support analysts, and other associated technical and project management roles in support of the goals identified above. The AVP is part of the Technology Engineering and Operations (TEO) pillar within Information Services and will also serve as a technical advisor to the leaders across this functional area focusing on client devices, telecom applications, vendor and outsource strategy, integration and acquisition implementations, and end user experience to help drive technology strategies forward.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Working with leaders across the IS organization, identify and map core IS service processes across the technology landscape to ensure a complete process roadmap is understood for all Data Network Services. This work will leverage existing efforts where they exist and through partnership build new service processes maps as appropriate. As the service landscape is understood, focus will shift toward ongoing governance and driving the modernization of core IS service processes.

  • Identifies and develops custom solutions, in alignment with PSJH IS strategy, to address gaps and opportunities between enterprise IS strategy and business partners strategic roadmap.

  • Serve as the executive leader for a team of senior leaders, analysts, engineers, and other roles required to support execution of strategic road maps.

  • The AVP shall perform all duties in a manner that promotes PSJH mission, values, and philosophy. In all aspects, the incumbent serves as a role model for the values and mission of the organization.

  • Serve as a technical advisor to the leaders across this functional to help drive technology strategies forward.

  • Owns the assigned accountable area(s) and monitors their performance. Leads accountable area(s) and teams on multiple large, complex, and often high-risk projects that cross organizational lines, working with other VPs and Executive Directors. Provides strategic direction to the team's efforts conducted around technical integration, staff utilization, IS modernization, modern digital workplace, cloud computing and storage, and networking. Identifies gaps and recommends staffing levels and team training to achieve organizational objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Technology, Management, Healthcare, or related field.

  • Master's Degree in Technology, Management, Healthcare, or related field. Or equivalent educ/experience

  • 10 or more years in Senior technology leadership experience including experience related to Service Engineering and/or Service Operations.

  • 10 or more years in Leading a team to support the creation and execution of strategic plans / roadmaps to address service and process gaps.

  • 5 years of experience in working in a leadership role that required collaborating across multiple technology and/or business functions to achieve business outcomes.

  • 5 years of experience in working in a technology leadership role that had involvement in technology engineering and/or engineering operations.

  • 3 years Clinical workflows in relation to voice devices and technologies and performance. (Preferred)

  • Azure, O365, Cloud design and architecture, Voice technologies, applications and operational support methodologies.

  • Ability to analyze information, evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems. (Preferred)

  • Ability to analyze information gathered by investigation, and report findings and recommendations. (Preferred)

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills. (Preferred)

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and data-driven approach. (Preferred)Knowledge of financial principles and practices and the ability to apply them effectively. (Preferred)
