Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Safety Intern in Indianapolis, IN.

SAFETY INTERSHIP OPPORTUNITY: We currently have an internship opportunity during the summer of 2025 for a detail-oriented, self -motivated student in Indianapolis, IN.

This opportunity is perfect for a student interested in gaining experience and knowledge in the safety aspects in the construction materials/heavy industry workspace. You will have the opportunity to learn about a stable industry as you work in multiple locations. This is a unique opportunity for you to begin your career with a proven leader in the hot mix asphalt, aggregate and construction materials industry.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Assist Safety Manager with safety audits, monitoring plant safety programs, initiatives, and compliance inspections

  • Write work hazard analyses

  • Develop training plans and audit safety training records

  • Review and assist compliance of safety data sheets

  • Assist documenting audit findings reports for distribution to operations management, and works with operations to implement controls

  • Assist the safety manager with routine aspects and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Any other duties as assigned

  • Work safely and follow all Federal and State laws and regulations as well as company and site specific policies

Who we are looking for:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university/college majoring in a safety program

  • Requires proficient knowledge of applicable tools and technologies to be used on the job including Word, Excel.

  • High level written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills

  • Willingness and ability to work indoors or outdoors in a heavy manufacturing setting. May occasionally be required to climb, walk on uneven surfaces, enter confined spaces, stand for long periods and sit for long period.
