Piezo Technologies Manufacturing Engineering Technician in Indianapolis, Indiana

POSITION SUMMARY Supports production through the timely resolution of quality issues, development of manufacturing processes for new products, implementation of process efficiency improvements, development and maintenance of assembly procedures, training of operators in procedures /use of equipment, and the creation of tooling, and fixtures.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Identifies changes to the design and/or manufacturing process for the improvement of product quality and process efficiencies. Develops a knowledge and understanding for the basic programming, setting up and operating of production automated equipment to train production operators. Supports production though the procurement of equipment, spare parts and tooling. Investigates inspection and test failures to root cause, proposes and implements corrective actions. Designs simple fixtures, tools and jigs for the improvement of process efficiencies. Works closely with Engineers in development of processes (including assembly, welding, soldering, epoxy mixing and curing) for the assembly of prototype sensors and cables for customer evaluation. This may include the creation of preliminary assembly procedures. Facilitates identifying waste and the incorporation of lean manufacturing principles in the manufacturing process. Knowledgeable in the manufacturing process and able to train operators in accordance with released production assembly procedures. Wear proper personal protective equipment as necessary including but not limited to: eye and hearing protection, safety shoes, lab coats, gloves, dust masks and respirators. Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS Experience/Background Five years of experience in an electronics manufacturing environment required Two years minimum experience with CAD preferred Experience in the electronics industry with assembly, soldering, epoxy bonding, cleaning and sandblasting. Experience in troubleshooting equipment. Capable of basic setup and programming of automated equipment. Experience in the application of lean manufacturing principles. This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a U.S. person or protected individual within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines U.S. persons and protected individuals as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), U.S. Temporary Resident, Political Asylee or Refugee.

Skills Good computer skills with a basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Basic to intermediate proficiency with 2D CAD Proficient in manual soldering Proficient in the use of measurement equipment Able to troubleshoot and repair equipment Basic understanding in the set up and programing of automated equipment Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English Mechanical aptitude and good math skills Ability to manage time and prioritize responsibilities Able to read and interpret company documents, such as safety rules, operating/manufacturing instructions, policies and procedures Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills to drive tasks to completion Must be highly motivated, self-starter and work as a team player Must have high levels of attention to detail and quality, be able to multitask and stay organized Must demonstrate the ability to act professionally Must be able to occasionally move about in production areas as needed Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Education High School Diploma or equivalent Associates degree from a Technical Trade School preferred Solder Application Specialist certification preferred

ENVIRONMENTAL and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each workday doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb. May have possible exposure to dust and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds.
