POSITION PURPOSE

Successfully leads large, complex projects using Agile Project methodologies. Champions change in the organization in adopting agile methodology. Manages project budget and actual spend to provide project steering committees with estimates to complete on project schedule and budget.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Champions the Agile process by getting behind the move to agile and supporting change.

  • Manages large, complex projects for the organization that include both business and IT related requirements and delivers on time and on budget with high customer satisfaction.

  • Manages multiple enterprise and multi-vendor projects in a mixed matrix and functional organization, ensuring agile practices and solution deployments contain testing and product owner/stakeholder communications.

  • Utilizes fluency in various agile methodology (SCRUM, Kanban, etc.) to lead projects through facilitating user story creation, sprint planning, sprint retrospective, daily stand-ups, and provides sprint demo sessions with users.

  • Manages project changes with product owners for changing priorities. Provides project dashboards, burn down/up chart metrics and executive status.

  • Tracks and communicates team velocity and sprint/release progress to all affected teams and management using Agile estimating techniques.

  • Acts as a Scrum Master for two to three Agile teams and mentors/coaches team members on Agile principles and methodology.

  • Advocates Agile methodology to promote, train, and lead IT and business areas to adoption of Agile principles. Facilitates discussion and conflict resolution to improve team productivity while promoting continuous improvement. Leads teams in making appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition

  • Strives to continually improve workflow and maximize efficiency by eliminating road blocks.

  • Participates in providing Agile learning for IT personnel; ensures training materials are updated and maintained to be active in coaching. Provides leadership, direction, motivation and direction of project teams.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. /B.S.) in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

  • 8+ years of proven Technology Project Management experience

  • 4+ years leading complex multiple technology programs/projects utilizing Agile/SCRUM, or related methodology

  • Agile related certifications (SCRUM Master, Product Owner, PMI-ACP or others)

  • Experience in mentoring team members on Agile/SCRUM best practices

  • Experience with project environments including, JIRA, Confluence, or Share Point Team Site usage.

  • Ability to effectively deliver in a highly collaborative and matrixed environment. Previous experience managing complex concurrent enterprise multi-vendor projects.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working as Software Programmer or Systems Analysts would be a plus

  • Previous airline experience.

  • Training in Six Sigma processes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Travel up to 10% of the time, including overnight travel.
