As an Infrastructure Systems Engineer in the IT organization you will join the team responsible for designing, building and maintaining innovative infrastructure solutions that support the needs of our Salesforce.com employees. This includes, but is not limited to: Single Sign-On, authentication services, directory services, logging services and general IT application design, architecture, mobile device management, endpoint management, capacity planning, operations and DR.

This role’s primary technical area is mobile device management, however you will be involved in many of the other core applications and services managed by corporate IT. You will be involved in IT infrastructure projects that will optimize current services as well as deploy and integrate new technologies for the global corporate IT environment. You will also be responsible for maintaining these mission critical services. You will interact with various business, engineering and operational teams. The Infrastructure Systems Engineer will contribute to the overall success of the engineering organization by providing recommendations and key insight into the technological path of corporate IT.

Responsibilities:

  • Support, operate, and maintain the mobile device management service. This includes engineering, problem resolution, vendor escalations, config changes, updates/upgrades, process management, training, and documentation.

  • Handle support ticket escalations from helpdesk and the NOC, including after hours support for major incidents.

  • Evaluate and test new mobile devices and OS updates. Work closely with the mobility team on introducing new devices, OS updates, provisioning, and support of mobile devices.

  • Perform service health assessments and remediate based on priority, time and funding.

  • Support infrastructure projects pertaining to Mobile Device Management and Security Services ensuring operational requirements are met and support transition is completed successfully.

  • Continually analyze and work to improve quality of services offered by Corporate IT

  • Ensure new infrastructure technologies are adequately tested and integrated with other infrastructure and application services.

  • Participate in technology evaluations and incorporate the latest technology trends and industry standards as appropriate.

  • Ensure service availability & reliability of infrastructure services.

  • Build and manage Development, Test, and Stage environments.

  • Suggest improvements based on technology, best practices, or changing requirements.

  • Provide regular management updates on advantages and potential opportunities for new technologies and automation.

  • Establish close working relationships with Security, Project Management, and support teams.

  • Work with and manage outside consulting technical subject matter experts as needed.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

  • 3+ years of broad IT work experience including administration, engineering and architecture in Enterprise environments with over 4,000 users

  • 3+years of experience with Airwatch, Mobile Iron, or similar EMM products

  • 3+ years of administration experience with underlying services: RedHat Linux, Windows Server, SaaS services, etc.

  • Solid understanding of security theory/practice

  • Good understanding of identity management theory and fundamentals.

  • Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes

  • Ability to script common procedures

  • A solid understanding of supporting operating system

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and balance conflicting demands

  • Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills

  • Self-motivator who can run with tasks and projects on their own

  • Great oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work well and collaborate with other teams of various skill levels

  • Strong analytical skills coupled with technical creativity and vision

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Prior experience with the Salesforce.com application

  • Experience with SaaS, PaaS, IaaS

  • Experience with the VMware Platform

  • Background in Information Security

  • Understanding of scripting languages and technologies such as shell scripting, Python, Perl, JavaScript, VBScript, PowerShell or others

  • One or more industry certifications

  • Understanding of Chrome OS and Android OS.
